Product Owner – IIoT Applications

Sanofi is hiring key contributors to onboard Sanofi Digital transformation journey and to embrace the Digital capabilities. Our IIoT Platform, including the time series data delivery solutions, Streaming Engine, is a key component of this digital transformation, enabling real time data delivery to our innovative Sanofi Digital solutions. As part of the global Digital Manufacturing MSAT & Engineering team, reporting to the Digital Global Engineering Product Line Owner, the Product Owner for the IIoT Platform Streaming Engine is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and evolution of Sanofi's industrial data streaming capabilities. This role will oversee the current Streaming Engine while managing the transition to the new IIoT platform, ensuring continuous delivery of business value through effective data streaming from shop floor equipment to digital applications. The Product Owner will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, prioritize features, and ensure the platform meets the needs of manufacturing sites worldwide.

• Product Vision and Strategy

• • Own the product vision for data streaming capabilities within Sanofi's manufacturing environment

  • Align streaming capabilities with Sanofi's digital transformation strategy and manufacturing goals

  • Develop and maintain the product roadmap for Streaming Engine utilizing the enhanced capabilities of the new IIoT platform

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define success metrics and KPIs for the platform

• Backlog Management and Prioritization

• • Define, prioritize, and maintain the product backlog for the Streaming Engine

  • Create detailed user stories and acceptance criteria for development teams

  • Balance technical debt, new features, and maintenance requirements

  • Ensure the backlog reflects both immediate needs and strategic long-term goals

• Stakeholder Management and Collaboration

• • Work closely with Digital, Global Engineering, Manufacturing Science and Technology (MSAT), Data Foundations and Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other stakeholders

  • Collaborate with the Digital teams including Plant Connectivity (IIoT Platform), Cyber Security, Architecture, and Data Foundations, to ensure the platform aligns with Sanofi's technical standards, data security, and compliancea

  • Facilitate workshops and requirements gathering sessions with users across manufacturing sites

  • Lead or coordinate training sessions for onboarding new site IIoT Experts

  • Communicate product updates, roadmap changes, and release plans to all stakeholders

• Technical Leadership

• • Understand and communicate technical aspects of data streaming, time series data, and industrial connectivity

  • Partner with data platform teams to ensure seamless integration of streamed data

• Platform Transition Management

• • Lead the transition from the current Streaming Engine to the new IIoT Platform Streaming Engine

  • Ensure business continuity during the transition period

  • In partnership with the Plant Connectivity team, define migration strategies for existing data streams and configurations

  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with the platform transition

• Feature Development and Implementation

• • Oversee the development of key features including:

  • • Self-service data streaming capabilities

    • Time series data extraction and ingestion

    • Contextual data management (batch operations, recipes, alarms)

    • Equipment catalogue and plant hierarchy management

    • Monitoring and audit capabilities

  • Ensure features meet user needs and technical requirements

• Quality and Performance Management

• • Define and track quality metrics for the platform

  • Monitor platform performance and reliability

  • Implement data reconciliation processes and validation mechanisms

  • Ensure the platform meets all regulatory and compliance requirements

Minimum Experience & Knowledge Required

This role is critical to Sanofi's digital transformation journey, connecting shop floor equipment data with digital applications to enable real-time insights, enhanced operational efficiency, and predictive capabilities across all manufacturing sites.

• Technical Expertise

• • Strong understanding of industrial data systems, OT/IT integration, and IIoT concepts

  • Knowledge of time series data management and streaming technologies

  • Understanding of cloud and edge computing architectures

  • Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and industrial automation

• Product Management

• • Proven experience as a Product Owner or similar role in technical product management

  • Experience with Agile methodologies and tools (Jira, Confluence, etc.)

  • Strong backlog management and prioritization skills

  • Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements

• Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Knowledge

• • Understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and GMP requirements and their impact on digital systems

  • Experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing or similar regulated industry

  • Knowledge of data governance in regulated environments

  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and terminology

• Project Management and Agile Methodologies

• • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies for product development

  • Strong project management skills to prioritize multiple business needs

• Leadership and Communication

• • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and influencing without direct authority

  • Strong presentation and stakeholder management skills

  • Ability to build consensus among diverse stakeholders

• General Work Experience and Skills

• • 5 years+ experience in relevant roles

  • Very good communication level and engagement skills, both written and verbal

  • Strong understanding and experience in Agile methodology and techniques

  • Management of internal and external resources

  • Experience leading multi-department and multi-cultural teams: clarifying requirements, resolving conflicts, defining roadmap and driving progress

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Information Technology or Engineering

• Fluent spoken and written English
