The Product Owner III – BI plays a critical strategic role within the Enterprise Data & Insights (ED&I) organization, focused on maximizing the value and impact of data visualization capabilities across ALSAC. This role brings deep focus to the consumers of data, ensuring that Tableau and related BI tools are fully leveraged to drive actionable insights, improve decision-making, and elevate the user experience.

The Product Owner III - BI is responsible for defining and executing the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for a portfolio of BI capabilities and applications. This role requires a strong balance of strategic thinking, technical acumen, and stakeholder engagement to deliver innovative, scalable, and high-value solutions.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership & Product Vision- Define and drive the strategic vision and direction for BI products, aligned with ALSAC’s fundraising and data strategy objectives
- Develop and maintain a 3-year product roadmap, ensuring alignment with enterprise priorities and emerging technologies (including AI/ML capabilities within Tableau)
- Identify opportunities to maximize Tableau ROI through increased adoption, advanced functionality, and improved user experiences
- Leverage market trends, competitive intelligence, and industry best practices to evolve BI capabilities
- Own and manage the product backlog, prioritizing features based on business value, user impact, and technical feasibility
- Translate business needs into clear, actionable user stories and functional requirements
- Coordinate and oversee product releases, ensuring quality, timeliness, and stakeholder alignment
- Ensure compliance with data quality, governance, and information security standards
- Partner with Architecture, Platform Leadership, and InfoSec to ensure scalable and secure solutions
- Champion a user-centered design approach, creating intuitive and impactful Tableau dashboards and analytics experiences
- Build journey maps, wireframes, and prototypes to communicate product direction
- Lead and participate in usability testing, incorporating feedback into continuous product improvement
- Drive change management and adoption strategies, increasing effective use of Tableau across the organization
- Enable stakeholders through training, documentation, and communication of business value
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication- Build strong, trust-based relationships with business stakeholders, fundraisers, and leadership
- Act as a translator between business and technical teams, ensuring clarity and alignment
- Communicate product value, roadmap progress, and feature enhancements clearly and consistently
- Facilitate discussions and resolve conflicts related to scope, priorities, and design decisions
Operational Excellence- Manage day-to-day product operations, including:
- Product health and performance metrics (KPIs, usage, adoption)
- Product and project status reporting
- Vendor and contractor engagement
- Conduct industry and competitive analysis to inform product evolution
- Ensure adherence to Agile/Scrum best practices and modern product management methodologies
- Lead and mentor other Product Owners and cross-functional team members
- Influence without authority across teams, fostering alignment and collaboration
- Provide thought leadership in BI, Tableau, and data product management
- 6+ years of experience in product management, product ownership, or related IT roles
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Product Development, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Strong experience with Tableau or similar BI/data visualization platforms
- Solid background in data, analytics, or business intelligence
- Proven ability to define product strategy, roadmap planning, and delivery execution
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and modern software delivery practices
- Knowledge of change management and adoption strategies
- Strong business and technical acumen with an enterprise mindset
This position is based at ALSAC’s National Executive Office in Memphis, TN and is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.
