Job Description

The Opportunity:

The SAFe Agile Product Owner (Digital & eCommerce) is responsible for maximizing the value of digital and eCommerce products within a scaled Agile environment. This role serves as the voice of the customer and key business stakeholders, translating strategic objectives into prioritized features and user stories that drive measurable business outcomes. Working closely with cross-functional Agile teams—including engineering, UX, analytics, marketing, and operations—the Product Owner ensures seamless delivery of high-quality, customer-centric digital experiences across web, mobile, and commerce platforms.

Operating within the SAFe framework, the Product Owner manages and prioritizes the team backlog, collaborates with Product Management on program vision and roadmap alignment, and actively participates in PI Planning and other Agile ceremonies. This role requires strong business acumen, technical fluency in digital and eCommerce ecosystems, and a data-driven mindset to optimize customer journeys, conversion performance, and overall digital growth.

What Your Impact Will Be:

  • Backlog Ownership & Prioritization: Own and manage the Team Backlog, translating Features into well-defined user stories with clear acceptance criteria; prioritize based on business value, customer impact, dependencies, and technical considerations.
  • SAFe Alignment & PI Planning: Collaborate with Product Management to align on product vision, roadmap, and feature priorities; actively participate in PI Planning, backlog refinement, sprint planning, system demos, and Inspect & Adapt events.
  • Digital & eCommerce Optimization: Drive enhancements across digital and eCommerce properties (web, mobile, checkout, payments, integrations, content, and merchandising tools) to improve customer experience, conversion, revenue, and operational efficiency.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with Digital, eCommerce, Marketing, UX/UI, Engineering, Analytics, Operations, and external vendors to gather requirements, clarify scope, manage dependencies, and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Customer-Centric Story Development: Act as the voice of the customer by leveraging data, research, and stakeholder feedback to create user stories that improve end-to-end customer journeys.
  • Acceptance Criteria & Definition of Done: Define clear acceptance criteria for all stories and ensure alignment with Definition of Ready (DoR) and Definition of Done (DoD) standards.
  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT): Lead and/or participate in User Acceptance Testing to validate delivered functionality against business requirements and acceptance criteria; document defects, coordinate issue resolution, and provide formal acceptance or rejection of completed work.
  • Release Support & Readiness: Support release planning and readiness activities, including validating production deployments, coordinating go-live checklists, and monitoring post-release performance.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Monitor KPIs and digital performance metrics (e.g., conversion rate, AOV, cart abandonment, engagement) to inform backlog prioritization and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Risk & Dependency Management: Identify and proactively manage risks, blockers, and cross-team dependencies to ensure on-time delivery of committed objectives.
  • Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensure digital and eCommerce solutions meet security, privacy, accessibility, and brand standards.
  • Continuous Improvement: Champion Agile best practices, foster a culture of collaboration and accountability, and drive ongoing process and product improvements.

Key Success Factors:

  • Customer-First Mindset: Consistently prioritizes features and enhancements that improve the end-to-end digital customer experience and drive measurable value.
  • Business & Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of eCommerce drivers (conversion, AOV, revenue, retention, merchandising, promotions) and how product decisions impact financial performance.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Leverages analytics, user insights, and experimentation (A/B testing) to inform prioritization and validate outcomes.
  • SAFe & Agile Discipline: Effectively operates within a SAFe framework, maintaining a healthy backlog, delivering on PI objectives, and ensuring stories are clear, actionable, and testable.
  • Clear & Concise Communication: Translates complex business and technical requirements into well-defined user stories and acceptance criteria; communicates priorities and trade-offs effectively to diverse stakeholders.
  • Collaborative Leadership: Builds strong partnerships across Digital, Engineering, UX, Marketing, Analytics, and Operations; influences without direct authority.
  • Quality & Accountability Focus: Ensures delivered functionality meets acceptance criteria and business intent; actively participates in User Acceptance Testing and holds teams accountable to Definition of Done standards.
  • Technical Fluency: Demonstrates working knowledge of digital platforms, eCommerce ecosystems, integrations, and release processes to make informed trade-offs.
  • Prioritization & Decisiveness: Balances short-term delivery needs with long-term product strategy; makes timely, informed decisions in fast-paced environments.
  • Continuous Improvement Orientation: Actively seeks opportunities to optimize processes, improve team effectiveness, and enhance product performance.
