The product owner will bridge the gap between business stakeholders and technology teams, ensuring that the software and systems developed align with business requirements.
The product owner will collaborate with various departments and stakeholders to gather, document, and analyze business requirements, processes, and workflows. They will translate these requirements into functional specifications for technology teams and work closely with project managers, developers, and testers to ensure successful project delivery. The product owner will also be involved in identifying areas for process improvement and recommending solutions to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Gathering and analyzing feedback from different stakeholders
  • Ensuring that the product meets the needs of our customers
  • Define and prioritize backlog items and product features, ensuring that they are aligned with the product vision and goals
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather feedback and define user requirements
  • Create and maintain epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and other processes and workflows to support the development team and improve the product development process
  • Participate in daily scrum meetings, sprint planning, sprint reviews and sprint retrospectives with the product feature team
  • Ensure that the team members have a clear understanding of the product vision, the expected deliverables, the goals of each initiative, and new product release timelines and milestones
  • Continuously gather and analyze feedback from stakeholders, scrum masters, development teams, and customers to inform successful product decisions
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the development team and stakeholders regarding product-related issues.

Requirements

  • Have a college/University education in a field deemed relevant
  • Have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a product owner and/or business analyst
  • Experience with Agile methodology
  • Be able to understand business needs and identify the best way to respond to it
  • Detailed oriented and able to assess situations logically
  • Excellent communication skills (oral or written) with external clients and internal team members at all levels
  • Able to understand client issues and provide guidance on next steps 
  • Able to manage client priorities and expectations 
  • Be able to manage priorities and meet deadlines in a changing environment
  • Knowledge of the area of financial/ DC pension administration experience will be considered an asset
