JOB DESCRIPTION
Under the Data activation & Platform Director, the Data Product Owner plays a pivotal role in Cogeco's transformation towards advanced analytics and data-driven value creation. Operating within the North American market, this role is responsible for the vision, strategy, and roadmap of data products. The candidate will be the bridge between all of our internal and external key stakeholders (Marketing, BI, Web, CRM and IT) and the development team to prioritize features, manage the backlog, and ensure successful product launches.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Represents the voice of the customer
- Is responsible to manage the stakeholders’ requirements
- Is responsible for user stories in the product backlog and prioritizes them
- Is responsible to validate that the user stories respect the definition of ready
- Defines the features of the product, the product roadmap, manages releases, release dates and its content (not the execution)
- Owns and updates Product Backlog and changes features and priorities as needed
- Accepts or rejects work results/sprint and can terminate the initiative/project or sprint or negotiate scope changes as per the business goals
- Ensures that the Scrum Team works on the right priorities to benefit the business
- Hosts refinements, demos and sprint planning sessions
- Engages the team throughout the sprint to ensure deliverables meet expectations
- Collaborates with the Scrum Master to complete and deliver the sprint report to external stakeholders
- Develops and maintains appropriate tracking and reporting of product performance post-launch to evaluate future investment
- Translates product roadmap features into well-defined product requirements including features, user stories, and acceptance test criteria
ACADEMIC TRAINING
- Bachelor’s Degree or combination of relevant education and experience
WORK EXPERIENCE
- 5 to 10 years of product owner experience in building an integrated data platform
- Data analytics and environment knowledge
- Telecommunication or service experience an advantage
SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
- Advanced Agile methodologies
- Control of agile tools (Jira, Confluence)
- Knowledge and understanding of data ecosystems
- Knowledge of the cloud data environment (GCP an advantage)
- Excellent communication skills (spoken & written)
- Advanced organization and prioritization skills
- Details and results oriented
- Autonomous and shows initiative
- Teamwork and collaboration skills
- Google Suite knowledge
