Retail Technology (RT) is responsible for the world leading application of technology and operations across every aspect of CommBank, from innovative product platforms for our customers to essential tools within our business. We also use technology to drive simplicity and better banking, an essential component of great customer service underpinning a strong emphasis on software development as a craft and the adoption of industry best engineering practices.
Retail Technology team is responsible for technology leadership and capability underpinning CommBank’s retail business.
The goal of Retail Technology Foundations is to ensure that RT is enabled by world-class people, process and technology.
Impact & contribution:
As a Product Owner under Retail Technology, you will be responsible for owning the product and end to initiatives by ensuring that our team builds the best solutions possible using modern development practices that ensure both functional and non-functional needs are met.
You will lead and support our team of engineers, helping them develop their craft and become stronger technologists.
You will have oversight of technical designs, ensuring that they are fit for purpose and you will provide technical oversight to delivery planning and execution.

Roles & Responsibilities:
- Works with the scrum team to define, prioritize and manage the product backlog to deliver on the product vision, goals and roadmap.
- Consults with business customers, stakeholders and cross-functional teams to build a shared understanding of the problem and solution and ensure there is support for scope and delivery decisions.
- Publishes and communicates the product strategy and roadmap to stakeholder and teams.
- Assesses and prioritizes work based on outcomes to deliver maximum value.
- Continuously orders and refines product backlog to deliver maximum value in line with a clear product strategy and roadmap.
- Takes accountability for the prioritization of the back-log.
- Manage conflicts, issues and risks to optimize solution and ensure alignment to scope.
- Promotes continuous improvement of the Product Owner practice within the organization.
- Manages the plan or product roadmap including any risk, security or financial assets within accountabilities.
Essential Skills:
- Experience ;-12+ Years
- Clearly expressing Product Backlog items;
- Ordering the items in the Product Backlog to best achieve goals and missions;
- Optimizing the value of the work the Development Team performs;
- Ensuring that the Product Backlog is visible, transparent, and clear to all, and shows what the Scrum Team will work on next; and,
- Ensuring the Development Team understands items in the Product Backlog to the level needed.
- The Product Owner may do the above work, or have the Development Team do it. However, the Product Owner remains accountable.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree/Master’s degree in Engineering in Computer Science/Information Technology
