Role Overview:

Defense Unicorns is on the lookout for a Product Marketing Unicorn who is passionate about technology, thrives on community engagement, and is driven to revolutionize the defense industry. If you have experience in the AWS marketplace, or other app store environments, and a love for dynamic marketing, we want you on our team!

As a Product Marketing Manager, you will become the evangelist for our marketplace, articulating unique app capabilities and software delivery solutions in a way that resonates across verticals within the defense sector. You will delve deep into our technology and those of our marketplace partners to champion our unique value propositions, tailor communications to technical and non-technical decision-makers, and build strong relationships throughout defense and industry engagement, both online and in person.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Evangelism: Masterfully tell the story of marketplace apps and our software delivery product, building and emphasizing their value in the defense industry.
  • Community Engagement: Monitor trends and actively engage with relevant Marketplace communities via social media, conferences, and other industry events.
  • Voice of the Mission Hero: Be the voice of our customers and bring insights, feedback, pain points, and mission needs internally to improve marketplace offerings.
  • Product Messaging: Own and refine the messaging strategy for our products by vertical and persona to help create effective campaigns.
  • Data-Driven Marketing: Collaborate across teams to brainstorm, refine, and implement effective go-to-market strategies utilizing analytics.
  • Content Creation: Produce compelling marketing content that drives awareness, demand, and product adoption.
  • Growth Enablement: Partner with Product and Growth Capability Leads to create enablement materials that increase opportunity velocity and improve win rates.
  • Market Intelligence: Conduct thorough market research and competitor analysis to guide strategic decisions and tool creation.

Approximately 25%-35% travel may be required to engage with communities and stakeholders effectively.

The listed responsibilities are not exhaustive, and additional responsibilities may be assigned based on the evolving needs of the organization. We are seeking a dynamic individual who is able to adapt and take on new responsibilities as they arise. 

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

  • PMM Experience: Previous experience driving the PMM function with measurable results.
    • 6+ years of Product Marketing Manager experience, or similar. 
    • 3+ years working in a software development company.
  • Technical Expertise: A proficient understanding of software development, DevSecOps, and app marketplaces like AWS Marketplace in order to write content to technical persona roles.
  • Proven Track Record: Demonstrable experience in community engagement, growth engineering, and product marketing.
  • Analytical Proficiency: Strong capability in analyzing complex data and extracting actionable insights.
  • Excellent Creative Writing: Ability to write about technical topics in a creative way that non-technical readers could understand, enjoy, and extract value from.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional interpersonal writing and speaking skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across teams in a remote work environment.

Education: A bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or related fields is preferred.

Full compensation packages are based on candidate experience. Compensation ranges are established using national benchmarking data and apply across all geographic locations within the United States.
