About the role:
The Clinical Decision Support (CDS) Applications & Platform team is seeking a Product Manager to support a portfolio of CDS products and platform capabilities that enable healthcare organizations to improve clinical quality, provider efficiency, compliance, and patient outcomes.
This role will serve as a Product Manager across multiple products within the portfolio, partnering closely with engineering, architecture, clinical, regulatory, and business stakeholders to deliver innovative healthcare technology solutions. The Product Manager will maintain product backlogs, prioritize features, manage Jira boards, support Agile delivery teams, and ensure alignment between day-to-day execution and the longer-term product strategy.
The ideal candidate combines solid product management fundamentals with a technical background in software development, healthcare technology, digital health, medical devices, or clinical software platforms. Working knowledge of Quality Management System in FDA, EU/MDR, etc. regulated products and ownership of deliverables are essential to this role. This individual will be comfortable operating across strategic and tactical horizons, advancing product execution while maintaining a clear understanding of portfolio goals, product vision, customer needs, and market direction.
Careers with Optum offer flexible work arrangements and individuals who live and work in the Republic of Ireland will have the opportunity to split their monthly work hours between our Dublin or Letterkenny office and telecommuting from a home-based office in a hybrid work model.
Primary Responsibilities:
Product Strategy and Roadmap Management
  • Support the development and execution of product strategy across multiple CDS products and platform capabilities
  • Maintain alignment between tactical delivery in Jira and strategic roadmaps, initiatives, and priorities managed in Aha!
  • Collaborate with Senior Product Managers to translate customer needs, business objectives, clinical requirements, regulatory considerations, and market opportunities into actionable product priorities
  • Contribute to roadmap planning, feature prioritization, release planning, and lifecycle decisions
  • Use customer feedback, product performance information, and stakeholder input to recommend product enhancements and portfolio improvements
  • Communicate product direction, priorities, tradeoffs, progress, risks, and decisions to stakeholders at appropriate levels

Product Ownership and Agile Delivery
  • Support and facilitate Program Increment planning, capacity discussions, dependency management, objective definition, and roadmap alignment
  • Serve as Product Manager for one or more Agile delivery teams supporting CDS Applications and Platform initiatives
  • Own, prioritize, and maintain product backlogs and delivery boards in Jira across multiple products
  • Define and refine epics, features, user stories, acceptance criteria, and non-functional requirements
  • Ensure backlog readiness and clear product decisions to support sprint planning and predictable delivery
  • Collaborate with Scrum Masters, Engineering Leads, Solution Architects, and other Product Managers to remove obstacles and manage cross-team dependencies
  • Participate in and support backlog refinement, sprint planning, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and ongoing team ceremonies

Technical Product Collaboration
  • Act as a bridge between business, clinical, product, and engineering stakeholders
  • Drive alignment between product strategy, architecture direction, and engineering execution to ensure delivery of scalable platform capabilities and business outcomes
  • Participate in technical discussions involving system integrations, APIs, interoperability, cloud services, data flows, platform architecture, security, and operational considerations
  • Assess technical feasibility, implementation of tradeoffs, dependencies, and delivery risks associated with proposed product capabilities
  • Partner with architects and developers to ensure product requirements are technically sound, scalable, maintainable, and aligned with platform strategy
  • Support the evaluation and delivery of AI-enabled product capabilities, ensuring solutions align with clinical safety, regulatory requirements, responsible AI principles, and customer value
  • Maintain sufficient technical depth to challenge assumptions, clarify options, and facilitate informed product decisions without replacing engineering or architectural ownership

Healthcare and Clinical Domain Collaboration
  • Work with clinical, regulatory, operational, commercial, and customer-facing stakeholders to understand healthcare workflows and product needs
  • Support products operating within clinical decision support, regulated healthcare, and medical software environments
  • Contribute to requirements involving interoperability, workflow optimization, clinical content, provider-facing experiences, and product quality
  • Help ensure product capabilities advance customer outcomes, portfolio objectives, and applicable regulatory and quality expectations

You will be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role, as well as providing development for other roles you may be interested in.
