Summary Generated by Built In

We are seeking a strategic and customer-focused Product Manager to own the vision, strategy, and success of a product or product area within our B2B ERP suite for the building materials distribution industry. This role requires strong product management fundamentals: translating customer and market insight into a prioritized roadmap, partnering closely with Research & Design and Engineering, and being accountable for outcomes, adoption, retention, and business impact. The ideal candidate builds a compelling product vision and roadmap grounded in evidence, makes decisions using both qualitative research and quantitative data, and ensures all initiatives align with and advance broader portfolio and business objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  1. Own the product strategy and roadmap for an assigned product or product area, aligned with portfolio priorities, business goals and market demands.
  2. Partner with Research & Design or conduct market research, gather customer feedback, and analyze competitive landscapes directly to inform roadmap prioritization.
  3. Use behavioral analytics and available customer feedback to identify opportunities, validate hypotheses, and measure the impact of shipped work.
  4. Define and prioritize a roadmap based on customer value, business impact, and portfolio-level tradeoffs, including clear articulation of opportunity cost.
  5. Act as the product’s business owner: accountable for its performance and financial outcomes, and responsible for advocating, backed by data on adoption, retention and revenue impact, for the investment, resourcing and prioritization it needs to grow.
  6. Own launch readiness and go-to-market execution for the product area, partnering with Implementation, Support and Customer Success to drive successful adoption, not only for shipping.
  7. Build and maintain relationships with customers, internal stakeholders, and (where applicable) partners or vendors relevant to the product area.
  8. Work closely with sales and marketing teams to develop go-to-market plans, pricing strategies, and sales enablement materials.
  9. Collaborate with Engineering, Design, and Research throughout discovery and delivery to shape well-validated solutions.
  10. Operate within and contribute to DMSi's established product management practice standards and portfolio governance framework, ensuring consistency in how roadmaps, priorities, and decisions are communicated.
  11. Prepare and present regular updates to stakeholders on strategy, roadmaps, and product performance.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
An entrepreneurial mindset, with a track record of delivering successful products and measurable business outcomes.
Demonstrated ability to partner with Research & Design as a strategic input to decision-making, not solely an execution resource.
Comfort using behavioral analytics platforms and customer feedback programs to inform and validate product decisions.
Experience with B2B software; ERP or building materials/distribution industry experience a plus.
Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and align cross-functional teams toward common goals.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven mindset and a focus on continuous improvement.
Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
Strategic thinking and business acumen, with the ability to translate market and customer insight into actionable roadmap decisions.
Experience integrating or managing third-party applications and vendor relationships, where applicable to the assigned product area.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Normal office environment with use of computers and telephone systems; no unusual physical demands.
Travel to customer locations as needed, including overnight stays, business air travel, and car rentals.
