Product Manager - TachoSync | Telematics

Teltonika’s telematics business unit develops and produces easy-to-use GPS tracking devices for effective fleet management in such spheres as logistics, agriculture, car sharing, construction, and more. Using the latest technologies, Teltonika sets new standards for the telematics industry. 

We're looking for a Product Manager to take ownership of TachoSync, a mission-critical SaaS platform used by fleet operators and transport service providers across Europe to remotely download and manage tachograph data.

TachoSync automates the remote collection, processing, and delivery of tachograph data from thousands of vehicles, built on our own IoT telematics hardware. The system runs 24/7 and has to stay reliable, compliant, and predictable under real-world conditions — intermittent connectivity, hardware constraints, regulatory requirements, and high data volumes. It's a live, revenue-critical product with an established customer base, not a green-field build.

This is a true end-to-end ownership role. You'll set the roadmap, decide what gets built and why, and be accountable for outcomes across data reliability, operational transparency, integrations, and — increasingly — regulatory compliance. As tachograph and fleet compliance requirements evolve (GDPR, the Cyber Resilience Act, NIS2), you'll be the one figuring out what applies to us, scoping the response, and knowing when to bring in legal.

In this role, you will:

• Own and evolve the product roadmap across data delivery reliability, operational control, integrations, and security & compliance.
• Validate problems before proposing solutions — client and stakeholder requests get investigated for the underlying need, not converted directly into backlog items.
• Write and maintain structured product documentation (initiatives, epics, acceptance criteria) that engineering can build against without re-negotiating scope mid-sprint.
• Define and track the metrics that matter — data delivery reliability, compliant fleet coverage, credit consumption — using SQL and our operational telemetry tooling directly, not just dashboards someone else built.
• Identify where regulatory obligations touch the product, scope the resulting work, and partner with legal counsel to resolve open questions rather than letting them sit unowned.
• Handle client- and partner-facing conversations that touch compliance or contract terms, working alongside sales on active commercial negotiations.
• Prioritize and sequence work with engineering and design, who own technical feasibility and implementation approach.
• Mentor the team's delivery coordinator on scoping and prioritization as they grow into the role.
• Operate with real autonomy — there's no dedicated product marketing function, so you'll drive initiatives from idea through to release readiness yourself.

What we expect from you:

• 3+ years in Product Management or Product Ownership for a B2B SaaS or data-driven platform.
• Working SQL proficiency and comfort with a BI/log analysis tool (e.g. Kibana/ELK) — you can pull and interpret your own data.
• Experience writing structured product documentation for engineering handoff, with the discipline to say "not ready yet" rather than pad out a roadmap.
• Comfort operating in regulatory grey areas — you don't need to be a compliance expert, but you can identify when something needs legal input and drive it to resolution rather than waiting to be told.
• Strong written communication; a lot of this role runs through documentation and client/partner-facing writing where precision matters.
• Ability to work independently and hold ownership of a product with limited dedicated support functions.
• Fluent English.

Strong advantages:

• Experience with usage- or consumption-based pricing models.
• Prior exposure to GDPR, NIS2, the Cyber Resilience Act, or similar EU digital/product regulation in a live product context.
• Background in fleet, transport, logistics, or telematics.
• Experience instrumenting products with GA4/GTM or similar.
• Experience being the primary or sole product voice inside an engineering- or hardware-first organization.

The team:

You'll report to the portfolio manager and work day-to-day with a dedicated cross-functional team: a backend-focused tech lead, two backend engineers, one frontend engineer, one UX/UI designer, and two QA engineers, plus a project coordinator handling delivery coordination. You'll also have access to a part-time operations/PM support role shared across the wider software portfolio, and will work with sales on key accounts and with legal counsel on compliance matters as needed.

Salary:

We appreciate everyone's efforts and experiences, so we offer an attractive salary matching your skillset and field expertise. The salary for this position ranges  from 24 Eur/h up to 27 Eur/h (~4000 Eur - 4500 Eur) pre-tax, depending on your experience and expertise, with the option to get quarterly bonuses.
