OverviewThe Principal Product Manager has a deep understanding of global dental markets and leads the strategy to optimize total product line performance. This role is accountable for long-term product strategies that win in the market, guiding the product family portfolio and championing major product line strategies, architectures, and lifecycle decisions. The Principal Product Manager builds and maintains strong industry relationships, drives internal continuous improvement, and ensures profitable growth through strategic portfolio leadership and market foresight.JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leads product line portfolio strategy and long-term roadmap optimization.
- Develops and delivers executive-level proposals for new markets, opportunities, and business models.
- Facilitates industry advisory councils and represents A-dec as a thought leader.
- Mentors and coaches Product Owners, Product Managers, and cross-functional senior leaders.
- Understands and anticipates market and customer problems across global segments.
- Manages product portfolio performance, ensuring profitable growth.
- Optimizes portfolio business cases and financial roadmaps.
- Makes strategic buy, build, or partner decisions.
- Drives market segmentation and strategic support for business expansion.
- Owns the product roadmap across portfolios.
- Leads scenario planning, innovation, and business model analysis.
- Sets and tracks product line metrics.
- Guides architecture, platform, and lifecycle decisions.
- Provides thought leadership in articulating essential differentiators.
- Influences global business model evolution and market-entry strategies.
- Partners with marketing, sales, and training to strengthen competitive positioning.
- Serves as a visible industry expert, presenting at major events and customer forums.
- Supports sales enablement with messaging, positioning, and competitive insights.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Expert in Voice of Market techniques, segmentation, ODI, value and pricing analysis, adoption analysis, scenario planning, and portfolio optimization.
- Advanced fluency with CRM, PLM, ERP, Excel, Power BI, and business analysis tools.
- Exceptional ability to communicate, inspire, and persuade across all levels, including executive and board levels.
- Highly collaborative with proven success in influencing others and working cross-functionally.
- Demonstrated success in portfolio leadership, business case optimization, and market strategy.
- Strong record of using company resources for high ROI and guiding major product line decisions.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, marketing, or equivalent.
- 15+ years of progressive product management, engineering, or related experience, including expertise beyond a single product line.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in business or equivalent strongly preferred.
- Product management certification preferred.
- Leadership experience in R&D, Operations, or Business Development highly desirable.
- Membership in dental or related medical associations preferred.
- Dental or medical device industry experience strongly preferred.
