Core Responsibilities
- Experience selling to the Oil & Gas industry is required.
- 10 years in steel tubulars, preferably seamless; 5 years specifically in OCTG, with knowledge and understanding of culture, roles, language, and processes.
- 5+ years' experience with an OCTG mill or distributor.
- Strong market acumen with the ability to identify strategic opportunities and accurately pinpoint current pricing requirements.
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of market dynamics to generate short and long-term forecasts, identify and communicate market trends, and provide feedback to BENTELER leadership.
- Build new and strengthen existing relationships with customers in cooperation with the rest of the sales team and other departments as applicable (e.g. engineering, operations, finance).
- Work with customers and BENTELER quality and engineering teams to identify future industry needs and develop new products.
- Use knowledge of the market and competitors to identify BENTELER's unique selling propositions, develop commercial strategies, execute plans, and produce operative results to generate new business and expand market share.
- Work with the production planning teams in Germany and the USA as needed to prioritize customer requirements within manufacturing constraints.
- Ensure alignment with and communication and presentation of the BENTELER brand and values in the right manner.
- Attend industry trade conferences and functions to build and strengthen relationships, gather information, and project a positive and consistent presence of BENTELER in the market.
- Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on payments.
- Work with inside sales support staff to ensure customer PO's are entered into SAP accurately and on a timely basis.
- Provide regular updates and/or reports to management as required.
Job Requirements
- BA/BS in management, finance, or economics with additional studies in or advanced knowledge of engineering and/or metallurgy. An MBA is desired but not required.
- Must have relevant experience in selling OCTG.
- Proven understanding of the different business segments and contexts in the supply chain.
- Extensive knowledge of contract negotiations within the steel tubular industry.
- Proven track record of successfully closing new business.
- Broad knowledge of competing international and domestic manufacturers of tubulars and connections.
- Must have good working knowledge of major processors and machine shops in Texas.
- Must have extensive knowledge and quality relations with key OCTG Distributors.
- Languages: person should be fluent in English; knowledge of the German and Spanish language is an advantage.
- Experience in executing market analysis studies.
