As the funded AI portfolio scales across Government Programs, the intake, prototyping, adoption, and integration of AI initiatives currently funnels through a single point of contact, creating both a bottleneck and a single point of failure. This role puts a dedicated business-side operator against high-value initiatives... owning a domain end to end, working alongside the forward deployed engineers and process analysts to bring capabilities together within Government Programs, surfacing new opportunities at the ground level, and shaping how those capabilities come together into a coherent product experience.
You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Own an assigned business domain as the source of truth for how AI applies to it, carrying the business context, rules, and data that solutions depend on
- Maintain the intake and roadmap for AI ideas within your domain, prioritizing by value and feasibility
- Translate business problems into clear, buildable specifications and rapid prototypes that prove and derisk a use case before engineering investment
- Partner with engineering and forward deployed engineers to scope, build, test, and ship solutions, and recognize when a prototype must graduate to a fully supported build
- Drive adoption of delivered AI capabilities, document use cases and playbooks, and serve as the AI subject matter expert for the teams you support
- Define success metrics and checkpoints, and report outcomes and impact in an executive-ready format
- Ensure work remains compliant with CMS regulations and UnitedHealth Group's Responsible AI framework as initiatives scale
- Build trusted partnerships across business leaders, engineering, actuarial, vendors, moving fluidly between technical and executive audiences
- Shape how the portfolio's capabilities come together into a coherent product experience... designing the flows and interactions that turn underlying AI capability into something users can navigate
You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years in product management, product strategy, analytics, digital transformation, or an AI-related role, ideally within healthcare or a similarly regulated industry

- Proven ability to flex between business and domain work and hands-on technical and prototyping work, including holding a working conversation with engineers
- Proven solid cross-functional collaboration and excellent communication across both business and technical audiences
- Proven high emotional intelligence, with the ability to move credibly between executives, vendors, engineers, and frontline teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Government Programs Product, Experience, or Strategy
