ABOUT RETOOL

Nearly every company in the world runs on custom software for critical operations like tracking performance metrics, handling support workflows, building admin dashboards, and countless processes you might never have thought of. But most companies don't have the resources to properly invest in these tools, leading to a lot of old, clunky internal software, or worse, teams still stuck in manual and spreadsheet workflows.

AI has changed who gets to build software. The definition of "developer" now includes analysts, operators, and domain experts creating solutions directly—and the tools they reach for are multiplying by the week. That's both an opportunity and a challenge: as more people build with more AI tools, the risk of shipping ungoverned software into production grows just as fast.

At Retool, we're building the platform that makes all of it safe to ship. Build with any AI tool you want, then deploy into one place that connects to your real business data, enforces enterprise policies automatically, and lets teams create once and reuse everywhere with shared, trusted components. The cost of building software has collapsed. The cost of governing it hasn't—and that's the problem we solve.

Developers and domain experts have already automated over 100 million hours of work on our platform, freeing them to focus on creative problem-solving and strategic work that drives real business value. The people closest to the problem can now build the software to solve it, safely, and within enterprise guardrails.

Let's build the future together.

WHY WE’RE LOOKING FOR YOU

Retool is becoming the platform enterprises use to build and run not only apps and automations, but AI agents that can reason, act, and connect to real data. Helping teams create this software is only half the problem. Retool provides users everything they need to build full applications, workflows, and agents, without waiting on setup or tricky integrations. That means users can go from idea to working product in just minutes.

We’re looking for a Product Manager to own Retool’s core building blocks, turning complex integrations, and third party partnerships, into seamless building experiences that will serve a wide variety of enterprise users.

You’ll explore open questions about how Retool’s resource platform should evolve, own building 0-1 features with partners to accelerate the product, and create an experience that feels cohesive rather than like a collection of individual integrations. You’ll need to understand the core product, identify where customers are struggling, and determine whether the right solution is something we build, partner on, or approach differently altogether.
You’ll work closely with customers, engineering, design, and go-to-market teams to translate emerging needs into durable platform capabilities. The strongest candidates will bring both customer empathy and platform thinking: the ability to solve an immediate problem while building a system that can scale across use cases, integrations, and customers.
You’ll join a small, experienced team that values clear thinking, speed, and direct communication, at a company where product is a core driver of how the business grows.

IN THIS ROLE

Your goal is to make Retool the easiest platform for enterprises to connect to their data, systems, and AI models—and to make those connections reusable across everything they build.
You’ll work across problems like:
  • Which capabilities should Retool build directly, and where could partnerships deliver a better or faster customer experience?
  • How can we make it dramatically easier for builders to connect to databases, APIs, storage systems, and AI inference providers?
  • What abstractions and frontend experiences will make sophisticated integrations feel intuitive without limiting what technical builders can do?
  • How should Retool’s integration platform evolve as customers build increasingly complex
  • How can organizations configure and reuse resources, permissions, design systems, and other shared assets across teams and applications?
  • How do we turn individual customer needs into a cohesive integration platform rather than a series of one-off connectors?

Day to day, you’ll:

  • Set the strategy and roadmap for Retool’s integration platform, grounding priorities in customer evidence, technical constraints, and business impact.
  • Lead 0–1 projects from early customer research through launch, adoption, and iteration.
  • Work closely with engineering and design to shape both the underlying platform and the builder-facing experience.
  • Explore new product ideas with customers and determine which problems are worth solving.
  • Evaluate build-versus-partner decisions and work with third-party partners where they can meaningfully improve the product experience.
  • Make clear product and technical tradeoffs without waiting for broad consensus.
  • Partner with Sales and Customer Success to understand customer needs, communicate product value, and build a compelling case for investment.
  • Define success through outcomes such as ease of setup, resource reuse, builder adoption, and customer value.

THE SKILLSET YOU’LL BRING

  • 4+ years of product management experience, including building and launching 0–1 products for technical or enterprise users.
  • Experience helping a fast-growing product evolve into a scalable platform.
  • Strong platform thinking: you can identify shared primitives, design for reuse, and build systems that support many products and use cases.
  • Experience with data connectivity, integration platforms, developer platforms, or similarly technical enterprise products. We’re looking for more than experience shipping individual API integrations.
  • The technical depth to participate credibly in architecture discussions and evaluate tradeoffs with senior engineers.
  • A track record of turning ambiguous, cross-cutting problems into clear product direction and shipped outcomes.
  • Strong customer instincts and experience conducting research with technical users.
  • The ability to advocate for customers while distinguishing recurring platform needs from one-off requests.
  • Strong product judgment. You form opinions, make decisions, communicate the rationale clearly, and course-correct as you learn.
  • The ability to articulate product value and build a clear business case for customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong ownership and a willingness to stay close to implementation, not just the roadmap.
  • Hands-on curiosity about AI and how builders connect applications and agents to models, tools, and business data.

Experience building product partnerships is helpful, but not required. We’re equally interested in platform PMs who have helped products evolve from a collection of capabilities into a scalable, cohesive system.
