CREATIVITY IS OUR SUPERPOWER. It’s our heritage and it’s also our future. Because we don’t just make toys. We create innovative products and experiences that inspire fans, entertain audiences and develop children through play. Mattel is at its best when every member of our team feels respected, included, and heard—when everyone can show up as themselves and do their best work every day. We value and share an infinite range of ideas and voices that evolve and broaden our perspectives with a reach that extends into all our brands, partners, and suppliers.
The Team:
Mattel Digital Studios is focused on building digital products, platforms, and experiences that deepen fan engagement and expand the ways consumers connect with Mattel's iconic brands.
The Digital Experiences team creates scalable digital experiences, services, and platform capabilities that extend Mattel IP beyond traditional play patterns and one-time marketing activations. We partner across brands, production, design, technology, marketing, analytics, DTC, legal, and external partners to build digital products that engage fans, families, collectors, and creators in meaningful ways. Our work spans physical-to-digital experiences, fan engagement platforms, collector and superfan utilities, subscription or service concepts, and reusable digital infrastructure that can scale across brands.
Digital Experiences is focused on turning audience engagement into measurable value for Mattel. That means building products that can mobilize fans, generate useful audience insight, support new digital revenue models, strengthen franchise growth, and create repeatable capabilities for the company.
Job DescriptionThe Opportunity:
Mattel Digital is looking for a Product Manager to help build, launch, scale, and monetize digital experiences, platforms, and services that extend Mattel IP into meaningful fan, family, and collector engagement. This role sits on the Digital Experiences team and will help shape product strategy, build business cases, align senior leaders around investment decisions, bring new 0-to-1 opportunities to market, and grow established platforms into larger digital businesses.
The Product Manager will own and develop digital opportunities that create value for Mattel beyond one-time campaign activations. This includes fan engagement products, physical-to-digital extensions, collector utilities, subscription or service concepts, cross-brand digital platforms, and reusable experience infrastructure. The role requires strong product judgment, comfort with ambiguity, disciplined execution, business case development, executive communication, and the ability to partner across brands, marketing, design, production, engineering, legal, finance, data, DTC, gaming, and external vendors.
This role requires a Product Manager who is comfortable with both sides of digital product ownership: creating new products from zero to one and operating established platforms with a clear path to growth, scale, and monetization.
What Your Impact Will Be:
Own the strategy, discovery, definition, launch, optimization, and growth of digital experiences that leverage Mattel brands and intellectual property.
Lead 0-to-1 product development for new digital experiences, from early concept and opportunity sizing through MVP definition, launch readiness, market launch, and post-launch iteration.
Build product strategies and business cases that clarify the audience opportunity, consumer value proposition, revenue model, investment needs, risks, dependencies, and path to scale.
Partner with Digital Experiences leadership to align ELT and senior stakeholders around strategic priorities, funding asks, investment tradeoffs, and launch decisions.
Own established digital platforms and identify opportunities to improve engagement, retention, monetization, operating efficiency, and long-term scalability.
Translate business goals, audience needs, and brand strategies into clear product requirements, roadmaps, briefs, user stories, success metrics, and decision frameworks.
Evaluate opportunities based on audience value, business impact, feasibility, scalability, monetization potential, first-party data value, and reusable capability.
Help shift digital work from one-time launches toward living products that are measured, maintained, improved, and scaled over time.
Define and track product success metrics, including engagement, retention, conversion, monetization, toy revenue lift, user satisfaction, operating cost, and learning milestones; use those signals to recommend whether to scale, optimize, pivot, pause, or sunset initiatives.
Develop product documentation and cross-functional plans, including product briefs, PRDs, business cases, experiment plans, launch plans, post-launch readouts, stakeholder updates, dependencies, budgets, risks, and launch readiness.
Coordinate with design, production, engineering, analytics, marketing, legal, privacy, safety, and brand teams to deliver high-quality consumer-facing experiences.
Maintain awareness of digital product, AI, interactive entertainment, creator, collector, subscription, and fan engagement trends that may inform Mattel's digital growth opportunities.
Help create repeatable operating practices, templates, and processes that allow Mattel to build digital experiences more efficiently across brands and audiences.
- 5+ years of product management experience building consumer-facing digital products, apps, platforms, services, ecommerce experiences, fan communities, subscriptions, or other digital experiences.
Demonstrated success taking digital products from concept through launch and post-launch growth, with clear examples of business impact, user adoption, engagement, retention, monetization, or operational improvement.
Strong product strategy skills, including the ability to define customer problems, size opportunities, shape MVPs, prioritize tradeoffs, create roadmaps, and make clear recommendations with incomplete information.
Experience owning product outcomes and connecting product decisions to business results, including revenue, margin, engagement, retention, customer acquisition, first-party data, brand value, and operating leverage.
Proven ability to develop business cases, funding recommendations, executive materials, or strategic decision narratives for new or growing digital products.
Strong analytical judgment, including the ability to define success metrics, interpret product performance, identify actionable insights, and recommend whether to scale, optimize, pivot, pause, or sunset an initiative.
Excellent cross-functional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to align creative, technical, business, and brand stakeholders.
Strong execution discipline, including planning, dependency management, vendor coordination, launch readiness, risk tracking, and follow-through.
Experience working in agile product development environments and managing products through discovery, launch, lifecycle management, and post-launch optimization.
Ability to create concise, high-quality written materials for different audiences, from working teams to senior leaders.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in entertainment, consumer products, kids/family products, digital media, subscriptions, DTC, fan platforms, or branded digital experiences.
Experience working with licensed or franchise-based IP.
Familiarity with app stores, web products, live operations, user acquisition, CRM, community, content platforms, or digital commerce.
Experience using product analytics tools, A/B testing, funnel analysis, cohort analysis, or lifecycle metrics.
Experience working with external agencies, software vendors, design partners, or development studios.
Understanding of privacy, safety, and compliance considerations for consumer-facing digital products, especially products that may reach kids, families, or global audiences.
Experience using AI-assisted product, prototyping, research, analysis, or development tools such as Codex to accelerate discovery, execution, experimentation, and decision-making.
Familiarity with AI, creator tools, interactive entertainment, digital collectibles, or emerging fan engagement models that could inform new consumer experiences or operating models.
