Product Manager, Content Accessibility

Location: Elsevier, UK

12 months contract

About our team:

Elsevier Operations partners with our business units to deliver the end-to-end customer journeys across all of our market segments, aiming to deliver market leading content and data. The Content Systems and Services team within Operations plays a key role in this, in collaboration with our technology and operational team colleagues. We continually optimize and innovate our processes to ensure that our content is delivered quickly with high quality to our customers.

About the role:

The Product Manager, Content Accessibility, is responsible for ensuring that our content meets the needs of users with disabilities. This role involves orchestrating activities to align with Elsevier's business and technology strategy, focusing on books and related processes and systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement accessibility enhancements to content products, initially focusing on books.

  • Project manage relevant implementations and act as a Subject Matter Expert.

  • Coordinate user testing, write test cases, and secure resources.

  • Contribute to high-level roadmap and development planning.

  • Identify and prioritize changes in content pipelines.

  • Collaborate with vendors to define necessary outcomes and control costs.

  • Define clear and unambiguous requirements for new accessibility features.

  • Engage regularly with stakeholders and build strong relationships.

Requirements:

  • University degree or equivalent experience.

  • Project and product management skills.

  • Experience in academic publishing, preferably within a book’s workflow environment.

  • Awareness of accessibility issues faced by people with disabilities.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, projects, and priorities.

  • Proven track record of improving customer satisfaction and commercial impact.

  • Thorough product development knowledge, including business case development and content planning.
