About the Role
UPI is the backbone of India's digital payments revolution — and Paytm is one of its largest participants, processing hundreds of millions of transactions every month. We are looking for a Product Manager to join our UPI team and drive product strategy, user growth, and experience excellence across our UPI-powered flows.This role sits at the intersection of consumer behaviour, financial infrastructure, and regulatory nuance. You will own high-impact product surfaces and work closely with engineering, design, data, and business teams to ship products that millions of Indians use daily.
Key Responsibilities
1. Core UPI Product Ownership-
- Own end-to-end product vision, roadmap, and execution for one or more UPI surfaces
- Drive seamless payment flows: initiation, authentication, success/failure states, and post-transaction experience
- Continuously improve funnel metrics — conversion, success rate, and drop-off — through A/B testing and experimentation
- Work with NPCI guidelines and stay ahead of regulatory changes to ensure compliance without compromising experience
2. User Experience & Growth
- Identify friction points in the UPI journey using data, user research, and support insights, then ship targeted fixes
- Design and launch features that drive engagement, frequency of use, and top-of-wallet positioning
- Own discovery and nudge strategies that help users adopt new UPI capabilities
- Collaborate with design to maintain a fast, trustworthy, and intuitive payment experience
3. Platform Reliability & Scale
- Define success metrics (SLAs, success rates, latency benchmarks) and hold engineering accountable to them
- Build escalation frameworks and incident response playbooks for payment failures
- Ensure platform readiness for high-traffic events such as festive seasons, IPL, and government disbursements
4. Insights & Experimentation
- Build and maintain dashboards that track north-star and guardrail metrics across the UPI funnel
- Drive a culture of rapid experimentation — hypothesis → test → learn → scale
- Generate and socialise insights that influence upstream decisions in engineering, design, and business
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of product management experience with a mandatory focus on consumer-facing products or fintech
- Deep understanding of user psychology, engagement funnels, and conversion mechanics in high-frequency consumer apps
- Proven ability to translate ambiguous problems into structured hypotheses and ship fast, iterative solutions
- Comfort with SQL and product analytics tools (Mixpanel, Amplitude, Metabase, or equivalent)Strong written and verbal communication skills — ability to write crisp PRDs, present to leadership, and align cross-functional stakeholders
- Demonstrated ownership mindset: you have shipped features end-to-end across product, engineering, and go-to-market

- Prior experience working in a UPI-regulated environment or with NPCI product constructs
- Experience with 0→1 product development alongside maintaining and scaling existing surfaces
- Exposure to growth, lifecycle, or CRM-driven product work
