Reports to: Director of Hospital Services 

Pay Range: $75,004-$83,262/annually

Location: Jenny Eller Donor Center

Work Modality: On-site 

Job Summary

The Product Management Manager will assist in managing and maintaining the day-to-day activities of all product inventory management, including staff assets. The Product Management Manager will need to use their experience and judgment to ensure all products comply with blood bank cGMP, FDA, CLIA, California Department of Health, and AABB regulations and standards. Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment. The manager will report directly to the Director of Hospital Services and will collaborate with teams across the organization to ensure product management excellence in supplying and distributing safe blood products with the utmost quality and fiscal integrity.

Persons filling this position are responsible for overseeing all activities related to inventory management and the processes within the business unit. 

Essential Responsibilities

  •     Management of blood products internally, ensuring an adequate supply for local customers
  •     Manages product management techs and drivers, including staff scheduling, training, competency/proficiency, and performance evaluation
  •     Utilizes data to determine best staff coverage and driver routes and monitors and updates as needed
  •     Works closely with the Hospital Relations and Inventory Manager on movement of blood products, export sales, and relationship with local customers
  •     Handles any customer complaints using appropriate internal reporting and tracking mechanisms
  •     Monitors storage devices and other equipment, including maintenance (preventative and as-needed), repair, and validation. 
  •     Ensure orders are filled within allotted time frames and investigate delays or issues with any orders
  •     Assists in the training of new staff on all SOPs, equipment, and computer systems 
  •     Assists with review and updating of department SOPs 
  •     Demonstrates a commitment to working in a strong team environment
  •     Demonstrates adherence to employee handbook and all company policies
  •     Demonstrates alignment with and adherence to the company’s core values in all interactions, decisions, and work activities; serves as a role model for fostering a positive, respectful, and ethical workplace culture

Requirements

Qualifications and Skills

Education/Licenses/Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree in Health Admin, Supply Chain Management, or related field and 3+ years of experience required
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory, training, management role, or team leadership experience
  • Knowledge of blood product storage, handling, transportation, and experience with inventory/laboratory information systems preferred
  • Must have a valid California driver’s license, and a clean driving history with no major violations in the last five years

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Attention to detail, compliance, and staff development 
  • Exceptional communication skills both oral and written, motivationally affective with collaborative outcomes, including experience in conflict resolution management
  • High attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and adapt rapidly to changing priorities and tasks

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods (e.g., desk work, meetings). 
  • Occasional standing and walking 
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, using a mouse, and operating standard office equipment 
  • Close vision for reading reports, screens, documents, spreadsheets, and emails
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures, required to enter walk-in freezer at 32°F or lower

Working Conditions

  •  Indoor, climate-controlled environment
  •  Low to moderate noise level
  •  Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as gloves, mask or goggles
  •  Possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens
