This position is part of Novanta’s ATI Industrial Automation business. ATI is the world-leading engineering-based developer of robotic accessories and robot arm tooling, including Automatic Tool Changers, Multi-Axis Force/Torque Sensing Systems, Utility Couplers, Material Removal Tools, Robotic Collision Sensors, Manual Tool Changers, and Compliance Devices. Our robot end-effector products are found in thousands of successful applications around the world.
ATI Industrial Automation is seeking a dynamic and proactive Application Engineer to manage Force Torque sensor product lines. This role is a perfect fit for an individual with a strong foundation in engineering principles and a passion for robotics and automation. It is an onsite role based in Apex, North Carolina..
Regular and effective communications within the customer base and internal teams including sales, marketing, engineering, quality and production are critical to individual and team performance success.
- Own or assist product managers in developing Product Requirements Documents (PRDs)
- Develop and execute application use case test plans for New Product Introductions (NPIs).
- Develop NPI technical training for field application engineers and customers
- Technical support PoC for key strategic OEM customers
- Partner with Product Managers to develop novel applications for ATI products that create significant customer value
- Construct product demonstrations using Robots and presentations to showcase product capabilities at tradeshows, conferences, and customer sites.
- Create inbound and outbound marketing content, including Competitive analysis, videos, and application notes.
- Own or assist product managers in the execution of 80/20 and End of Life Strategy
- Be recognized as a product and application subject matter expert to field application engineers and select strategic customers.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to drive product and process innovation.
Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Controls, or related Engineering major.
- 5+ years of experience in an engineering role, preferably in the automation industry.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems and manufacturing processes.
- Experience and familiarity with Robot (Fanuc, ABB, Kuka, etc.) programming is desirable.
- Experience with SolidWorks and MS Office Suite.
- Up to 15% travel required.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with team members and clients.
