DUTIES: BorgWarner PDS (USA) Inc. seeks a Product Functional Safety Engineer based out of our office at 3800 Automation Avenue, Auburn Hills, MI 48326. Note, this is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work from the aforementioned address and from home. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the aforementioned address. Note, this position requires, as needed, up to 5% domestic travel.

The Functional Safety Engineer, as part of the Functional Safety Competency, is integral to assuring that the product can meet the targeted ISO 26262 ASIL level. This role gives the opportunity to work in electrified propulsion, an integral part of the growing Electric Vehicle market. Creating the Impact Analysis. Review the customer safety requirements (SG, FSR, TSR, SSR, HSR). Derive Technical Safety Requirement and allocate to system, hardware, software. Develop test specifications for system level. Lead safety analysis – SYS/HW/SW. Support engineering competencies during product development. Verify the correctness of work products. Support the Functional Safety Manager as needed. Provide verification of work products as necessary.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or Electronics and Communication Engineering and 36 months of experience in job offered or related in automotive functional safety.

Required experience must include: Experience with safety analysis tool Medini Analyze; Experience in requirements management tool Polarion; Experience using systems and software processes, including ASPICE; Experience in functional safety analysis methods: FMEDA and FTA; Experience working with Safety of Intended Functionality (SOTIF).

Note, this position requires, as needed, up to 5% domestic travel.
