Role Summary

We are looking for a Product Engineering Coordinator for NPI Product Engineering to own program planning, supply/logistics coordination, BOM and lifecycle management, and internal/external documentation for new product introduction programs. Reporting to the NPI Product Engineering Manager, this role is the operational backbone of each NPI program —milestone & schedule tracking, material shipment & inventory management, miscellaneous product engineering document generation and submission, and keeping NPI project documentation current — working closely with Product Engineering, Packaging, Quality, Supply Chain Operations & Planning.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Planning   —   40% of role

  • Develop and maintain NPI program schedules across all phases ensuring seamless transition from product concept to final release to manufacturing.
  • Utilize Smartsheet tool to track program milestones, dependencies, and critical path items; proactively flag schedule risks and capture mitigation plans, and report to NPI Product Engineering, management, and stakeholders.
  • Manage cross-functional NPI tasks, project activities and action items, and ensure timely closure of key NPI deliverables working with NPI product engineering and cross-functional teams.
  • Collate cross-functional inputs from Project Lead, Design, Product Engineering, Test, Characterization, Quality, Packaging, Application, Planning and Operations to keep the NPI program plans current and accurate.
  • Publish regular NPI program status updates and lead/support program review meetings with clear action items, owners and action closures.
  • Support NPI product engineering with the submission and management of NPI product documents, document repositories and ensure phase-gate deliverables are on schedule and get completed as planned.

2. Supply Planning and Logistics Support   —  30% of role

  • Coordinate internal sample movement and OSAT bring-up/buyoff:
  • Track wafer fab lot status and shipment logistics across internal and external partners.
  • Ensure correct samples are shipped and arrive at the right location, in the right condition, and on schedule to internal customers while ensuring program timelines.
  • Coordinate wafer backend processing and package build activities, priority setting, and status tracking with the Packaging team and/or external partners.
  • Create and manage purchase orders for:
  • Masks, wafers, and expedite requests while working with Design, Semtech Foundry Process Engineer, Supply Chain operations, and Foundry partners to secure priority and lead-time commitments.
  • Corner lot builds in support of characterization and NPI product qualification plans.
  • Assembly tooling (Waffle pack, Trays, Tape & Reel, Reconstructed Wafer etc.) required for sample builds and production parts.

3. Product Life Cycle Management   —   15% of role

  • Create and maintain part numbers, Bills of Material (BOM) & Routing across product life cycle.
  • Ensure BOM accuracy and alignment with engineering change orders (ECOs) and design revisions.
  • Prepare and manage NPI product release documentation throughout the product life cycle as required.
  • Support product life cycle status management (NPI, active, EOL) in coordination with Supply Chain, Product Marketing, and Manufacturing.
  • Support obsolescence management and second-source qualification activities as needed.
  • Coordinate product End of Life (EOL) activities and scrap materials through MRB (Material Review Board) process.

4. Facilitate Internal and External Documentation   —   15% of role

  • Coordinate Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) assessments with Trade Compliance for new products and program changes.
  • Create Purchase Requests (PRs) and Reservations in SAP.
  • Assist with the submission and tracking of JIRA tickets for Wafer Configuration working with Software team.
  • Coordinate creation and distribution of wafer map packages.
  • Submit and maintain SBL/SYL limits for all NPI and/or Sustaining products monthly or as required.
  • Assist with the preparation and maintenance of presentations, documents and/or reports for internal and external stakeholders working with NPI product engineering.
  • Collaborate with NPI product engineering, Packaging and/or Reliability Engineering team with the preparation of backend wafer processing documentation and/or instructions.
  • Prepare and track waiver requests as required to support product exceptions and/or program schedules
  • Prepare and issue Product Change Notifications (PCNs), ensuring accurate content, timely customer communication, and proper internal sign-off.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree or relevant experience in Supply Chain Management or a related technical field.
  • 3–6 years of experience in semiconductor NPI program coordination, supply planning, or manufacturing operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex program schedules with multiple cross-functional dependencies.
  • Skilled in coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams across global locations and time zones.
  • Working knowledge of BOM structures, ECO processes, and product life cycle management.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail across schedules, tasks, actions, risk management/mitigation and action closures.
  • Proficiency with Excel, MS Office and Project tracking tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, or equivalent).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Project ownership, Multi-tasking, Self-driven, Team player.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills

Preferred

  • Familiarity with wafer fab, assembly/test, or OSAT logistics and sample flow.
  • Exposure to export control (ECCN) classification and trade compliance processes.
  • Experience preparing or managing Product Change Notifications (PCNs), waivers.
  • Experience working with packaging teams on build coordination
  • Prior experience supporting new product qualification projects/programs in a fabless or IDM semiconductor environment.

A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this position is $65,000-$73,000 CAD.  There are several factors taken into consideration in determining base salary, including but not limited to: job-related qualifications, skills, education and experience, as well as job location and the value of other elements of an employee’s total compensation package.
