Job Description/Preferred Qualifications
Primary Responsibility
Support sustaining product service engineering for Surfscan systems. Serve as a central technical resource, interfacing across engineering disciplines to drive continuous improvement in system hardware, diagnostics, software, tooling, and service readiness. This role partners closely with product development to improve serviceability, reliability, and Cost of Service (CoS), while enabling value-added service solutions that enhance customer uptime and drive incremental revenue.
Job Scope
- Develop and deploy scalable, self-sustaining solutions for hardware and software issues by partnering with cross-functional teams
- Drive resolution of complex system issues through data analysis, 8D/structured root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions
- Build deep expertise in advanced systems (optics, electronics, mechanical subsystems, software, algorithms)
- Partner with product engineering to improve design-for-service and system reliability
- Improve troubleshooting procedures, documentation, and training to drive field efficiency and adoption of best practices
- Protect intellectual property while enabling effective knowledge sharing
- Operate effectively in a dynamic environment
- Travel up to 15% may be required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor Level Degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science or related fields highly preferred
- At least 2 years of experience in a multi-discipline system environment, preferably with knowledge of laser, optics, mechatronics, mechanical or electromechanical systems.
- Experience with system design and documentation processes, with strong troubleshooting across hardware and/or software
- Solid engineering fundamentals with proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Power BI, JMP, MATLAB)
- Experience using AI-assisted tools (e.g., Copilot, Claude) to enhance troubleshooting, analysis, or productivity
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
