Duties & Responsibilities:

As Product Engineer you will manage new product introduction and production support engineering for a specific product or group of products, after transfer from design to in-house or outsourced production. You will interface with design, process, test, reliability and manufacturing teams to help solve product issues and production problems. Furthermore you will develop and drive process improvements to reduce production costs and increase yields.

Key deliverables include:

  • Develop process for product production and manage new product introductions

  • Drive continuous improvements across established process life-cycle to deliver greater efficiencies

  • Develop process flow charts, providing clear instruction around how to build product to increase quality standards and cycle times

  • Bridge builders – R&D assignment into reality of manufacturing

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Bachelors degree in Manufacturing, Electrical, Optical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering or related technical field.

  • Knowledge of mechanical optics are crucial to understand how products operate

  • 5+ years experience in manufacturing or technology driven industry (optics)

  • Experience of delivering continuous improvements within manufacturing or production (Lean or Six Sigma) - Electronics or optical manufacturing desirable.

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as assembly, soldering, testing, optical alignment, and box build.

  • Familuarity with laser, optical, and fiber handling - splicing (single- mode and multi-mode), routing, cleaning connectors, switching, and alignment processes (lenses, fibers, mechanical epoxy setting)

  • Working understanding of mechanical relationships and assemblies

  • Ability to perform optical and electrical fault diagnosis on production and field return units.

Desirable:

  • Familuarity with optical test equipment (signal generators, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, or power meters).
