As part of the Optics Supply Chain Engineering Organization, the Product Engineer will work with global R&D, Nokia EMS partners in South East Asia and subcomponent vendors to introduce new products, ramp production and provide sustaining engineering for the life of the product. The PE will ensure the designs are manufacturable and that all associated product manufacturing documentation is complete and correct. In addition, the product engineer will provide support to mass production ensuring the NOKIA quality, yield and delivery requirements for the product are met.
This position is the key technical resource within the Nokia Subsystem Supply Chain team to provide support for NPI and ongoing production at EMS, and will be responsible for ensuring that the new product designs meet the requirements for efficient, cost effective and manufacturability. This position is critical in bridging design/development, Supply Chain team, and the EMS.
Responsibilities- Work with EMS and subcomponent suppliers to understand their DFX requirements.
- Engage R&D to close any DFX issues.
- Drive technical activities to ensure supply chain readiness.
- Work with manufacturers, supply chain and development to address FMAs and associated SCARs.
- Manage and execute the prototype and pre-series plans.
- Support the model's material procurement to assure the models delivery schedule.
- Manage the ECO implementation, issue and manage DCO/Deviations.
- Provide technical assessment or industrial qualification builds at EMS.
- Monitor quality performance at EMS and field and take corrective action when necessary.
- Work with the EMS and Development to address any yield issues.
- Support EMS as needed with product manufacturing technical issues and address any product technology issues impacting production by leveraging the NOKIA relevant resources.
- Attend and proactively contribute to the dedicated Quality Working Group and Tiger Team.
- Analyze root cause of technical issues related to Manufacturing and drive corrective action plans.
- Assure manufacturing and Industrialization best practices are defined and followed at EMS.
- Ensure that the most cost-effective manufacturing processes and procedures are used.
- Ability to work in a technical lead role independently and with global cross-functional teams.
- Work with optical component suppliers on quality and cost reduction opportunities
- Periodic oversea travel required
You have:
- BS Engineering
- Basic knowledge of the Advanced Optics manufacturing process, preferably with direct experience in pluggable transceivers and TOSA/ROSA.
- Deep knowledge and understanding of standard production processes.
- Knowledge of Advanced Optical Products
- Based in Thailand.
It would be nice if you also had:
- Knowledge of Product Data Management tools.
- 5+ years of experience with Advanced Optics product manufacturing.
- Basic knowledge of the electronic assembly technology from SMT process to mechanical assemblies and Optical alignment, fiber Cleaning, handling, and splicing,
- Demonstrated Ability to work in a global team environment.
- Experience in Process Documentation.
- Organizational and communications skills (strong verbal and written English), ability to interface with all levels within NOKIA.
- Experience with project management.
- Experience being accountable for decisions and actions.
- Ability to work independently.
- Proven proficiency across multiple disciplines and or technologies.
