Test Engineer

Duties & Responsibilities:

Test Engineer I is an entry-level engineering role responsible for supporting the validation, testing, and qualification of hardware and embedded systems. This position works cross-functionally with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Test, and Quality to ensure products meet performance, regulatory, and reliability requirements.

The role is hands-on and lab-focused, combining system-level testing, troubleshooting, and technical documentation, with opportunities to support product certification, new product introduction (NPI), and production readiness activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform environmental and system-level testing of new and existing products.
• Participate in the development and execution of test plans, procedures, and validation activities
• Set up, configure, and calibrate test equipment and complex test environments
• Analyze test data and determine compliance with regulatory and internal performance requirements
• Generate detailed technical reports with clear findings, root cause analysis, and recommendations
• Troubleshoot failures observed during validation, production, or field use
• Work closely with Design Engineering to identify and resolve system-level issues
• Support design reviews with focus on testability, compliance, reliability, and risk mitigation
• Assist in product certification and regulatory compliance efforts
• Develop and improve test setups, fixtures, and methodologies to increase efficiency and repeatability
• Support transition of products from R&D to Manufacturing, including validation of production test processes
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, and Test teams to resolve production issues and improve yield
• Contribute to failure analysis and corrective action implementation
• Maintain and improve test documentation and quality systems
• Support internal and external stakeholders with technical expertise related to testing and compliance
• Participate in field testing, troubleshooting, and customer support when required

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in environmental testing of electronic systems
• Strong understanding of applicable regulatory and industry testing standards (environmental, EMC, RF, or similar)
• Hands-on experience with test equipment (e.g., spectrum analyzers, signal generators, environmental chambers, and similar equipment)
• Experience setting up and executing complex test configurations
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
• Ability to analyze data and contribute to actionable engineering feedback
• Experience writing technical reports and documentation
• Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams 

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in accredited labs
• Exposure to navigation systems, sensors, or embedded hardware
• Experience with environmental testing (thermal, vibration, shock, etc.)
• Familiarity with test automation, scripting, or data acquisition tools
• Experience supporting product certification or regulatory submissions
• Prior involvement in NPI, production validation, or manufacturing support
