Sapien is rethinking how finance teams operate in the age of AI. We’re building toward an autonomous CFO—systems that run company financials end-to-end. Our platform analyzes complex financial data in real time to increase decision cadence, prevent costly mistakes, and surface value. Sapien has caught multi-million-dollar errors, saved thousands of jobs, and returned significant dollars to customers’ bottom lines.
We partner with traditional businesses—manufacturing, healthcare, restaurants, and large enterprises—to deeply understand and automate their financial workflows. We’re HQ’d by Madison Square Park in NYC and backed by General Catalyst, Neo, and top operators from Google, OpenAI, Microsoft, Ramp, and Stripe (over $9M raised).
The roleYou'll design and build the interfaces that make Sapien's AI agents usable by real humans. That means translating thousands of complex agent actions into something a CFO can actually understand and creating the feedback loops that make our agents smarter over time.
This is a product-minded, full-stack role at the intersection of UX, real-time systems, and human-AI collaboration. You'll be making design calls that directly shape:
how users understand what agents are doing,
how much they trust what they see,
and how quickly we can learn from every interaction.
If you love building new design paradigms for human-agent interaction, Sapien is the playground for you.
What you'll doBuild middleware "translation layers" that convert thousands of underlying agent actions into clear, digestible user information—making complex AI workflows transparent and controllable.
Design and implement data collection systems that capture user feedback, preferences, and domain knowledge to continuously improve agent understanding of company processes.
Create novel visualizations of agent reasoning, calculations, and actions—surfacing the right information at the right time to build user trust and enable effective oversight.
Reimagine human-AI interaction patterns from first principles across data ingestion, verification workflows, observability, and human-in-the-loop interventions.
Iterate rapidly with customers, gathering feedback on what interface patterns work, what information users need, and where the product experience breaks down.
Work full-stack to implement features end-to-end—from React/TypeScript frontend components to Flask/Python backend APIs and agent integration layers.
Quality experience building user-facing products that real people use—ideally with modern frameworks (React, Next.js, TypeScript, Python/Flask)
Strong product instincts and UX sensibility. You've built things, watched users struggle, and iterated until it clicked.
Comfort spanning layers: design → frontend → APIs → backend integration. You don't throw problems over the wall.
Ability to translate complex technical capabilities into simple experiences that non-technical users trust.
CS degree or equivalent experience. We care most about what you've built.
Adaptability: You move fluidly between design, frontend, backend, and customer conversations. You're comfortable in unfamiliar territory and can shift contexts quickly.
Ownership: You take problems from concept to deployment. You don't wait for specs—you talk to users, form opinions, build prototypes, and iterate until it's right.
Opinionated: You have strong perspectives on what makes good UX and aren't afraid to push back on designs or features you disagree with. You make the product better through thoughtful debate.
Mission-driven: You understand that every interface decision impacts whether finance teams trust and adopt AI. You care deeply about building products that transform how businesses run.
Collaborative excellence: You elevate the team through design reviews, code feedback, and sharing insights from user research. You bring new ideas and best practices that raise the bar for everyone.
