We're building the next generation of AI-driven legal and compliance technology. Our mission is ambitious and global. We're bringing clarity and automation to one of the world's most complex and underserved domains. We are a founding team that values technical excellence, collaboration, and the opportunity to shape the future of the industry.
The RoleOur product spans rich interactive interfaces, distributed backend systems, and intelligent AI pipelines. We need engineers who can carry a product across all of it.
This is not a role where you stay in one lane. You'll work across the stack, shipping features end-to-end: from the UI a customer sees, through the APIs and infrastructure that power it, to the AI systems that make it intelligent. We care about engineers who take ownership of problems, not just tickets.
That said, we know mastery takes focus. Most engineers have a gravitational pull toward one area of the stack. We think of ours in three pillars. You'll work across all of them, but we expect you'll have deeper experience in one:
UI & DesignBuilding rich, responsive UIs. You think in components, care about interaction design, and know how to make complex information feel simple. You're comfortable with modern frontend frameworks and have an eye for polish.
Platform & InfrastructureDesigning APIs, services, and the systems that hold everything together. You think in terms of event-driven design, domain boundaries, idempotency, and authorization. You care about making systems correct, observable, and scalable.
AI & IntelligenceBuilding the intelligent layer: retrieval pipelines, agent workflows, structured data extraction, and model integration. You're comfortable working with LLMs, designing prompts, and turning unstructured problems into reliable systems.
What You'll DoShip features end-to-end — from UI to database to deployment
Build and evolve our product across the frontend, backend, and AI layers
Design and implement APIs, data pipelines, and agent-based systems
Collaborate directly with design, product, and other engineers to solve real compliance problems
Own the quality of what you ship — write tests, instrument observability, and debug production issues
Contribute to architecture decisions and help shape our technical direction
Strong software engineering judgment — you can evaluate, steer, and ship reliable systems whether the code was written by you or by AI
Experience building and shipping product in at least two of the three pillars above
Comfort navigating across languages and paradigms — we primarily use TypeScript and Go
Ability to pick up new tools and technologies quickly and apply them with good judgment
A bias toward shipping — you'd rather iterate on something real than debate abstractions
Clear communication and a collaborative mindset
Experience building modern component-driven UIs with React
Experience designing event-driven systems, domain-driven services, or infrastructure-as-code
Experience building LLM-powered systems, retrieval pipelines, or AI agents
Understanding of core distributed systems principles: eventual consistency, idempotency, observability
This is an in-office role in Stockholm, Sweden. We believe the best products are built by teams that work closely together.

What We Do
Freda is a Stockholm-based software company building an AI-driven legal and compliance platform. Its mission is to bring clarity and automation to complex regulatory work, helping companies navigate obligations, execute compliance processes, and demonstrate compliance. The product combines legal expertise with intelligent systems such as retrieval-augmented generation, agent-based automation, and large-language-model workflows for regulated businesses across European and other major jurisdictions.
