The Role
Design and build customer-facing and internal tools that integrate Ultra robots with customer systems. Own end-to-end features across the stack (web, ops/support tooling) and occasionally touch robot, Android/VR, or mobile code. Deploy production-quality software and iterate using real warehouse data.

Bonus Points
Ultra builds industrial AI robots that are working in the real world today. Our robots automate mission-critical warehouse labor end-to-end, starting with e-commerce order packaging. We deploy fast, learn from real production data, and iterate aggressively. We already have a quickly growing number of revenue-generating robots operating in U.S. warehouses, and are now scaling towards thousands of deployments over the next few years. Our mission is simple: build the world's most useful and deployable robot.
WARNING: Robotics is not for the faint of heart. There are no silver bullets here. It is tiresome, unglamorous, and at times brutal work. The only way out is through, and the only way through is treacherous and unknown. Success will require teamwork - so we are building a world-class team to tackle some of the most exciting problems out there. We hope you join us.
OverviewWe’re seeking a Product Engineer to join our NYC-based team (we are an in-person company) to build the glue between OP-1 and our customers’ systems. You are a full-stack engineer who will build all of the systems around the robot: the customer UX for working with Ultra, internal ops and support tooling, or whatever the next highest priority is. You'll own features end-to-end (and might touch robot code in the process).
- You have 5+ years of professional software development experience
- You consider yourself a software generalist and have worked on a variety of software systems, with a soft spot for Python/TypeScript-based web stacks.
- You turn high-level, open-ended problem statements into quality technical solutions (and can handle all of the in-between steps)
- You’re dangerous with LLMs because you know when they're wrong
- You know how to deploy high-quality production code as a part of a software team and are comfortable moving uncomfortably fast
- Design and build customer-facing product for running and managing robots in their warehouses, and iterate from how they’re actually used on the warehouse floor
- Build the internal tools for ops, support, and deployment so we can scale without heroics
- Pinch-hit across the stack as needed (Android VR dev, on the robot, future mobile app)
- You're a former startup founder
- You’ve built self-improving, agentic systems in the past
- You have a strong product sense and know all about UX in HIL systems
Expected Compensation
$150,000 - $225,000/annual salary + equity + benefits
This compensation range may be inclusive of several career levels at Ultra and will be narrowed during the interview process based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications. Adjustments outside of this range may be considered for candidates whose qualifications significantly differ from those outlined in the job description.
