quality issues of next generation battery packs.
Responsibilities
•Understands, develops, and improves safety and functional features on C&D Trojan’s market-leading Lithium-ion battery products
•Owner and writer of each motive OEM’s Product Requirements Document (PRD), which itemizes and references all of the customer’s technical specification line items.
•Conducts design reviews for customer-specific requirements captured in PRD.
•Works cross functionally with sales, engineering, Lithium-ion product development and management to translate customer needs and specifications. Aids Product Management in writing Voice of Customer.
•The Product Engineer will work with OEM customers directly as the face of the company to manage the design, development and launch phases
• Coordinates closely with the design engineering and internal sales teams in the US and globally as point person in charge of all customer interfacing regarding technical specifications and timelines
•Aids creation/and adjustment of Lithium-ion product’s bill of materials (BOM), with control of part number generation on OEM products
•Develops DFMEA - design failure mode and effect analysis, clarify requirements and discuss implementation of customer’s DVP&R, including planning of external validation testing
•Works with customers and Lithium manufacturing plant on product design/GD&T development
•Procures battery samples for test setups, performance testing or customer builds
•Supports project timing team’s implementation plans, workshops, and communication meetings
•Performs battery competitive analysis, benchmarking of technology, and cost estimation
•Studies and maintains a list of competitive battery chargers that may function with our products
Basic Qualifications:
•BS degree in EE/ME or equivalent
•Experience with various manufacturing processes
•Experience with a variety of materials (metals, plastics, etc.)
•Familiarity with the product development cycle
•A detail-oriented personality with solid documentation and reporting skills
•Eagerness to design and build the best vehicle lithium batteries in our market
•3 plus years of engineering experience within automotive/industrial setting as a product engineer, program engineer, application engineer, resident engineer, design engineer or similar
•Experience with complex systems and assembly – electrical power, injection molding, stamping, wiring, etc
•Ability to understand and identify key market trends, with strategic market development experience
•Exceptional presentation, written, and verbal communication skills
•Proven track record of managing timelines and long/short term assignments
