More about our mission and what we offer.
Job DescriptionWe are looking for a Product Director to own and evolve the internal platform that powers Risk, Compliance, and Financial Operations at Wise.
As money moves instantly across borders, bad actors move just as fast. The Mitigation Platform Squad is a 30-person, cross-functional organization (spanning three distinct teams) dedicated to building the next generation of our operational infrastructure.
Your mission is to move our operations from manual review engines to AI-augmented, predictive workflows, ensuring we scale our customer base exponentially without scaling our operational headcount at the same rate.
What You Will Build & Own:
You will lead the overarching product strategy for how we collect customer risk data, route tasks, and handle complex financial crime investigations. Specifically, your squad focuses on three core pillars:
- The 360° Customer Data Engine: Revolutionize how we collect, ingest, and synthesize customer information. You will build frameworks that aggregate complex data points into a unified, real-time risk profile, giving analysts instant context without the hunt.
- Intelligent Case Handling & Workflows: Own the end-to-end case management experience. You will build flexible, customizable workflow engines that empower operational teams to design, test, and deploy new compliance rules and investigation paths accelerating our time-to-market against new threat vectors.
- The AI & Automation Foundation: Set the architectural and product blueprint for augmenting human intelligence. You will integrate machine learning, LLMs, and smart automation into the daily workflow of analysts—from automated data summarization and predictive task routing to AI "copilots" that draft investigation summaries and highlight anomalies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a 30-Person Multi-Team Squad: Provide strategic vision, product coaching, and execution leadership to three cross-functional teams of engineers, designers, and analysts.
- Pioneer AI-Augmented Operations: Identify high-friction manual processes in KYC, EDD (Enhanced Due Diligence), and fraud investigation, partnering with Data Science to deploy automated decisioning and generative AI assistance.
- Unify the Operational Stack: Oversee the consolidation of fragmented tooling into a seamless, cohesive platform, standardizing core risk, quality assurance (QA), and workforce management (WFM) processes globally.
- Drive Cross-Functional Alignment: Act as the primary bridge between global product teams, compliance officers, and operational floor managers, ensuring platform improvements directly drop our cost of servicing.
- Operate as a Player-Coach: Seamlessly zoom out to set a 2-year platform vision, and zoom in to unblock technical architectural decisions or analyze operational workflow bottlenecks.
What We’re Looking For
- Platform & Scale Experience: You have built and scaled complex platforms, internal operating systems, or B2B SaaS products supporting thousands of daily active users or millions of end-consumers. You understand the intricate architecture required for high-availability, low-latency workflows.
- AI & Automation Intuition: You don't need to be a machine learning engineer, but you know how to productize data science. You look at a manual operational workflow and immediately see how smart heuristics, predictive models, or LLM summarization can 10x human output.
- Proven People Leadership: You have experience hiring, onboarding, and mentoring Product Managers (both ICs and Leads). You know how to build a high-context, autonomous culture across multiple distributed sub-teams.
- Relentlessly Data-Driven: You self-serve with SQL/data tools to uncover operational bottlenecks, quantify friction, and measure the ROI of automation. You tell compelling stories with data to rally engineering and compliance around a shared metric.
- Consumer-Grade Mindset for Internal Tools: You reject the idea that internal operational tools should be clunky or slow. You care deeply about UX, design, and developer/analyst ergonomics.
