SET THE COURSE

The Product Development and Production Coordinator, under the direction of the Manager, Sourcing and Production, is responsible for supporting the lifecycle of product development and helping manage products through bulk production for assigned product categories, ensuring on-time execution, and Tommy Bahama’s high-quality standards. This role is responsible for managing development data, sample tracking, tech pack accuracy, production approvals/WIPs, vendor communications and system updates.  This position partners cross-functionally with Design, Technical Design, Fabric Development, Merchandising, Planning, Finance, and Vendors, to develop product, manage timelines, and drive efforts that support brand and financial goals.


BE THE ISLAND GUIDE

Product Development Support

  • Maintain and update development WIP reports across multiple seasons to track requests, submits, and approvals for mocks, trims, embroideries, and washes.
  • Track and distribute samples from initial through salesman sample stages; coordinate with Design, Technical Design, and Samples teams.
  • Review and proof tech packs for accuracy; assist in generating and issuing tech packs to vendors.
  • Support costing activities by tracking seasonal development costs, updating cost sheets, and communicating samples costs and HTS codes.
  • Update and maintain Flex PLM with sourcing and vendor allocation data, milestone updates, and product attributes.
  • Support and monitor approval of all development submissions and oversee and approve all pre-production submissions including fabric, trims, embroideries, washes, drums, and shade lots.
  • Field non-technical vendor and supplier inquiries, ensuring alignment between internal teams and external partners.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date data within PLM and sourcing systems to support milestone and line launch deliverables.

Production Management

  • Coordinate the pre-production and production process post–Brand Launch to ensure timely delivery and adherence to Tommy Bahama quality standards.
  • Create and track production WIPs to ensure all approvals (fabric, trim, garment, and QC) are completed on schedule.
  • Track delivery timelines and communicate delays or issues to internal partners.
  • Review testing reports and coordinate with QC to ensure compliance before bulk production begins.  Schedule and review inspection reports and resolve production issues.
  • Manage booking timelines for carryover styles and validate vendor lead times.
  • Approve bulk price tickets, UPC codes, labels, hangtags, and packaging materials.

Vendor Management

  • Serve as a primary liaison between garment vendors, material suppliers, and internal teams for all production-related communication.
  • Conduct regular vendor meetings and conference calls to discuss capacity, timelines, quality, and performance.
  • Build and maintain strong vendor relationships to drive efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • Process Improvement and Collaboration
  • Identify and implement process improvements to streamline operations, reduce costs, and maximize profitability.
  • Perform other projects and duties as needed to support overall business objectives.
  • Support category managers and managers on special projects and cross functional initiatives.

ESSENTIALS FOR LIFE IN PARADISE

  • 4-year degree in fashion design, business or another related field.
  • Generally, 4 years of experience in retail with focused experience in product development, sourcing or production related positions.
  • General understanding of product development, product costs, production lead times.
  • Strong MS Office, especially Excel. Excellent math skills
  • Flex PLM experience preferred.
  • Blue Cherry experience preferred.
  • Production planning, forecasting, knowledge of the production process, lead-times, garment construction
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral. Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to influence decisions with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work proactively and problem solve.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Good judgement and decision-making ability.
  • Strong product knowledge in apparel/retail industry.
  • Ability to multitask and work in high pace environment.

Multiple factors will vary the applicable rate of pay for this role, including an individual’s experience, knowledge, and skillset, as well as work location and available budget.

Pay Range: $25.50 to $38.20/hour
