Your opportunity at Arc’teryx:
As the Product Development Lead, you lead a specialized team of Product Developers through the development of our most technical products. Your efforts focus on managing a product from concept through to production readiness. Your innovative and solutions-focused approach to development ensures that each product you and your team work on meets Arc’teryx design intent and supply chain requirements. You demonstrate integrity in your work, lead by example, and provide overall support and coaching to the Product Developers.  
This role is based out of our North Vancouver office and is open to hybrid remote work. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.

Meet your future team:
We are a small, high performing team that works closely with all aspects of product creation. The work we do behind the scenes supports Designers and Product Developers to accomplish go-to-market deliverables.  You will be part of a focused team of Product Developers, Designers, Pattern Makers, and a Cut & Sew team that works on creating innovative product. Our team builds strong relationships with cross-functional partners to realize ideas into commercialized successes.

If you were in the Product Development Lead role now, here are some of the core activities you would be responsible for:

  • Supporting the Director, Product Development in building and coaching a team of technical Product Developers, and owning the day-to-day leadership and development of the team
  • Training the team on design, fit, and quality to deliver pre-production worthy samples and specifications
  • Partnering with Product Operations on calendar requirements, ensuring timelines are met throughout the product creation process by managing workloads amongst team members
  • Providing regular reporting of team performance metrics to Product Development leadership team
  • Facilitating regular communication between cross-functional groups to establish and maintain practices to ensure consistent fit, pattern and construction through the product development process
  • Accurately producing prototypes, maintaining an accurate documentation of BOM information, and supporting quality processes by leveraging standard spec documentation
  • Managing a limited repertoire of complex models as the technical expert, ensuring Arcteryx brand standards are consistently met

Are you our next Product Development Lead?

  • You have 8+ years’ experience in product development, with a minimum of 2 years at a senior level with an emphasis on technical / innovative apparel and equipment, or equivalent additional experience in lieu
  • You have an Undergraduate Degree OR equivalent industry training, certification, or related business experience
  • You have a complete understanding of the product lifecycle process - from ideation to consumer
  • You have a comprehensive understanding of design intent, product aesthetics, construction, production and fit
  • You have excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills
  • You have strong leadership skills with an aptitude for coaching and mentoring teams
  • You have an extensive knowledge of raw materials, technical construction, and sourcing
  • You have experience effectively communicating with and travelling to domestic and offshore vendors and manufacturers
  • You have experience in product costing and negotiation skills
  • You are detailed and accuracy oriented with strong organizational skills
  • You are goal-driven with a results-oriented attitude
  • You have strong prioritization skills
  • You have strong computer skills in Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Office
