Summary:
The TekniPlex Innovation team is seeking a summer intern to lead new product development projects. During your 12 weeks in this role, you will actively participate in all aspects of new product development projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with senior researchers on an assigned product/technology development or an application/product engineering project. You will report to the GIC Lab. Supervisor and Development Engineer(s) and will work closely with the TekniPlex’s business unit and corporate leadership teams.
What will you would learn:
- To lead and direct assigned project towards advanced technical solutions
- To document detailed experimental records
- To analyze, interpret, and communicate experimental results
- To define and translate product requirements into measurable specifications
- To assess product performance against define specifications
- To conduct lab trials to produce developmental samples
- To conduct competitive sample analysis
- To collaborate with other R&D functions across TekniPlex that can help to advance the project
Duties and Responsibilities
- Inspect and test materials, products and packages in support of new product development and for manufacturing plant/customer support
- Prepare reports covering the test results, measurements, data collection and analysis
- Follow and participate in lab safe housekeeping guidelines designed to ensure a safe work environment
- Project management and execution
- Perform other duties that may be assigned
Minimum Skills, Knowledge and Ability Requirements:
- Current pursuit of a full-time undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Material Science, or a relevant Engineering discipline.
- Creative problem solvers, have an intellectual curiosity, and thrive in ambiguity.
- Demonstrated initiative, uncompromised integrity, and a results-oriented mindset
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Acute attention to detail with strong quantitative and analytical skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Strong motivation and work ethic and the ability to work independently, ability to balance multiple projects and competing deadlines
- Available to work full-time, 40 hours per week for the duration of internship
- Candidates must pass a background check and drug test prior to hiring
- Candidates should be able to work in the United States with no restrictions
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the intern is frequently required to sit and often required to stand; walk; use hands & fingers; talk and hear. The intern must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the intern is in a typical lab work environment. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. Intern will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in the lab such as safety glass, face shield, face mask, gloves, lab coat, and steel toe shoes etc.
