Key Responsibilities:
1. Product Development & Sourcing
- Work closely with designers and technical teams to develop new garment styles.
- Source fabrics, trims, and materials that align with design specifications and cost targets.
- Collaborate with suppliers and factories to ensure feasibility and quality of materials.
- Evaluate new materials and production techniques to enhance product quality and sustainability.
2. Sample & Fit Development
- Oversee the sample development process, ensuring accuracy in design, fit, and construction.
- Conduct fit sessions and provide technical feedback to pattern makers and factories.
- Work with technical designers to make necessary adjustments to improve garment fit and function.
3. Costing & Production Feasibility
- Analyze product costs and negotiate pricing with vendors to meet target margins.
- Ensure production feasibility by balancing design intent with manufacturing capabilities.
- Optimize material usage and production efficiencies to enhance cost-effectiveness.
4. Quality Control & Compliance
- Collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure garments meet company standards.
- Address potential production issues to prevent defects or delays.
- Ensure all products comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.
5. Timeline & Workflow Management
- Manage development calendars and ensure samples are delivered on time.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including design, merchandising, and production.
- Monitor project milestones and adjust timelines as necessary to meet deadlines.
Requirements:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Textile Science, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in garment product development, sourcing, or production.
- Experience working with overseas factories and suppliers is a plus.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, and production processes.
- Excellent understanding of fit, grading, and technical specifications.
- Ability to interpret design sketches and translate them into production-ready garments.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Excel, and PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in sustainable fashion or performance apparel development.
- Familiarity with global sourcing and supply chain management.
- Knowledge of industry trends and innovations in textiles and garment manufacturing.
