Job Description

Looking for a general product designer with a focus on collaboration, communication, system thinking, and UX design skills.

Work directly with stakeholders, including the project PM & Software Engineers from across the org. 

They are looking for an end-to-end, holistic product designer that covers UI & UX. They have an established template and system of components that the person should leverage. As new use cases are introduced, they'd expand upon and iterate as needed.

They'll work closely with a PM for business requirements, but will be responsible for wireframing & designing the page, delivering the specs, and reviewing engineering implementation.

There is a lot of collaborationg with the PM and the software engineers. The PM mainly handles stakeholder approval and additional requirement-gathering. The PM will lead the charge, engaging the designer for UX/design perspective.

Qualifications

MUST HAVE A PORTFOLIO TO SUBMIT TO CLIENT;

Strong skills in
- Communication - ENGLISH MUST BE AN 8.5 AT MINIMUM, IDEALLY A 9/10
- Collaboration - needs to be able to collaborate and effectively interface with Product Manager and various other stakeholders (engineers, business stakeholders, etc.) but can also thrive/work well independently with minimal guidance.
- They need someone with strong design systems thinking, UX design best-practices
- Person must be a self-starter / "go-getter" type personality that can work autonomously 80-90% of the time without needed to constantly check in with the Product Manager. They need someone who can take and act on the Product Managers ideas/vision and turn them into well designed mockups and prototypes.

● Comfortable working iteratively: You know how to scope design so your small, cross-functional team can deliver impact on schedule
● A motivated Product Designer: You understand the craft and are always working toward improving your interaction design and visual design skills
● An enthusiastic collaborator: You enjoy working with cross-disciplinary partners to arrive at outstanding experiences
● Consumer-first: Elevate product design through a deep understanding of NerdWallet’s audience, and doing what’s right for them
● Data-driven: You use qualitative and quantitative insights to inform and explain your decisions


Your experience
● 4+ years of professional experience in Product Design or a related field
● Experience designing for web (including mobile web & desktop)
● Ability to use research and data to drive design decisions
● Comfortable using Figma (or similar design program) as a primary design and prototyping tool
