The objective is to translate complex data and technical requirements into a clear, easy-to-navigate reporting experience that reduces ambiguity and error for reporting entities. This role supports CISA's mission to lower the barrier for organizations to accurately report cyber incidents in compliance with the CIRCIA rule.
Job Description
ECS is seeking an experienced Product Designer to lead design for a priority public-facing product and reporting experience supporting the CIRCIA program. In this role, you will translate complex data and regulatory requirements into a clear, low-friction user experience that enables organizations to accurately and efficiently report cyber incidents.
You will partner with business owners, engineering teams, and compliance stakeholders to move design work from ambiguous problem definition through execution-ready specifications. Your work will directly shape the public's experience with federal cyber incident reporting and must meet federal usability and accessibility standards throughout.
This role requires strong skills in interaction design, form design, and cross-functional collaboration. You will identify and document usability and accessibility issues, contribute to iterative design cycles, and ensure all designs meet the technical and regulatory requirements of the CIRCIA program.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design efforts for one or more priority digital products or forms, partnering with business owners, engineering, and compliance/legal stakeholders to define ambiguous problems and align priorities.
- Prepare draft specifications, annotations, interaction notes, screen states, and expected behaviors for review by senior design leadership.
- Provide structured handoffs to engineering and operations, including acceptance criteria grounded in user research.
- Identify and escalate usability, accessibility, and consistency issues encountered during design and review.
- Iterate on designs based on stakeholder and user feedback throughout the product lifecycle.
Salary Range: $120,000 - $145,000
