The Role
We design Spotify’s consumer experience—end to end, moment to moment, across every screen, platform, and partner integration. Our mission is to make listening feel effortless, personal, and joyful for billions of users around the world. That means turning complexity into clarity across hundreds of touchpoints—from our mobile and desktop apps to the smart speakers, TVs, cars, and integrations where Spotify shows up every day. If it touches a consumer, we shape it. We bring deep insight into human behavior, design, and technology to craft experiences that feel intuitive, expressive, and unmistakably Spotify.

You’ll join the Core Experience team — the group shaping how millions of listeners discover, explore, and engage with audio every day. We sit at the heart of Spotify’s mobile app, evolving the experiences people rely on daily. As a junior designer, you’ll work closely with experienced designers and cross-functional partners to improve existing features and bring thoughtful new ideas to life at scale.

What You'll Do

  • Contribute to the design of key parts of Spotify’s mobile experience, helping listeners discover and navigate audio content with confidence.
  • Support and gradually own the end-to-end design process — from early exploration and prototyping to polished delivery.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, researchers, and marketers to bring cohesive, data-informed solutions to life.
  • Partner closely with engineers, contributing directly to implementation when appropriate (e.g., lightweight PRs, design system updates, or interaction refinements).
  • Translate user insights and product requirements into clear interaction and visual design decisions.
  • Explore multiple ideas, incorporate feedback, and iterate toward high-quality outcomes.
  • Design for iOS and Android, respecting native conventions while maintaining Spotify’s distinctive voice.
  • Experiment with emerging AI capabilities to enhance user experiences and create rapid, interactive prototypes using AI-assisted tools and lightweight code to test ideas quickly.
  • Contribute to design critiques and shared learning within the design community.

Who You Are

  • You have 2+ years of experience designing digital products through full-time roles, internships, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • You have experience designing for mobile platforms and understand the fundamentals of iOS and Android patterns. Experience working on AI-forward or AI-integrated products is a plus.
  • You can take a problem from ambiguity toward clarity with guidance, shaping ideas into intuitive and thoughtful solutions.
  • You communicate your design thinking clearly, explaining your process and the trade-offs you considered.
  • You care about grounding your work in real user needs and measurable impact.
  • You are comfortable iterating quickly, learning from feedback, and collaborating in cross-functional environments. You’re comfortable collaborating deeply with engineers and understanding implementation constraints.
  • You are curious about how personalization and emerging technologies, including AI-enabled tools, influence user experiences.
  • You actively explore new AI tools and workflows and can demonstrate how they’ve influenced your design process.
  • You have a portfolio (online or PDF) that demonstrates your design process, craft, and outcomes.

Where You'll Be

  • This role is based in Stockholm or London.
  • We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! There will be some in person meetings, but still allows for flexibility to work from home. We ask that you come in 3 times per week.

Spotify is an equal opportunity employer. You are welcome at Spotify for who you are, no matter where you come from, what you look like, or what’s playing in your headphones. Our platform is for everyone, and so is our workplace. The more voices we have represented and amplified in our business, the more we will all thrive, contribute, and be forward-thinking! So bring us your personal experience, your perspectives, and your background. It’s in our differences that we will find the power to keep revolutionizing the way the world listens.

At Spotify, we are passionate about inclusivity and making sure our entire recruitment process is accessible to everyone. We have ways to request reasonable accommodations during the interview process and help assist in what you need. If you need accommodations at any stage of the application or interview process, please let us know - we’re here to support you in any way we can.
