About the Role

We are looking for current students to join Uber Freight as a Product Design Intern during the summer. You’ll work on tough interaction and service design challenges that transform the freight business, collaborating with engineers, product managers, and some of the world’s best designers, researchers, and writers in a fast-paced environment. Let’s make magic by crafting and launching outstanding experiences for Shippers, Carriers, and our Operations team.

The Design and Research team is made up of Product Designers, User Experience Researchers, and Content Designers who work in close collaboration with our Product, Engineering, and Data Science partners. The team’s culture is open, supportive, and collaborative. Every week we get together to share work-in-progress, build community, and further develop our skills through professional development workshops. 

What the Candidate Will Do

• Work on one of Uber Freight’s design teams in close collaboration with other product designers, content designers and user researchers.
• Try the latest prototyping tools to test out your design ideas with high and low fidelity prototypes.
• Work alongside other members of a product team – like Product Managers, Engineers, and Data Scientists – to refine your designs.
• Learn what details matter at each stage of the product development process.
• Present your work to the design team and leave with valuable takeaways and portfolio pieces.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelors or Masters students enrolled in a Design degree program
• 0-2 years of prior work experience in some type of product design setting
• Ability to work full-time between 6/2/2025 - 08/08/2025

Preferred Qualifications

• A growing portfolio of excellent product design work
• At least one project that demonstrates your ability in UI or UX capabilities (or both)
• Strong understanding of user research methodologies and prototype testing

For California Based Roles: The salary range for this role is $35/hour.
