Compensation for this position is set at $31/hour.This person will need to work hybrid from our Plymouth Meeting, PA or Seattle, WA office three days per week.Accolade's internship program runs June 9th-August 15th, 2025.At Accolade, we believe that all experiences matter.

Product Design Intern – Design System Focus

As leaders of user experiences within the Product organization, we are stewards of Accolade’s mission and are committed to meeting customer needs and solving healthcare problems.
 

A Product Design Intern within Accolade involves being a flexible and dynamic creative thinker with deep empathy for a diverse set of customers.

The focus of this role will involve playing a key role supporting the development, maintenance, and enhancement of Accolade Design System (ADS). Working closely with senior product designers, engineers, and product managers, this role will help create consistent, scalable design solutions that unify our product experience and contribute to efficient workflows across teams. This role provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in product design while building foundational skills in design system management and best practices.

Job Description

The Product Design Intern’s role includes the following:

  • Collaborate with the design team to maintain and update components, patterns, and style guides within the design system

  • Assist in creating documentation that enables designers and developers to understand and utilize design components effectively

  • Design new UI components and improve existing ones to ensure usability, accessibility, and visual consistency across products

  • Participate in user research, design critiques, and usability testing to gather feedback and iterate on design solutions

  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure design system components are implemented consistently and effectively

  • Help identify and resolve design inconsistencies and propose solutions for a cohesive product experience

  • Support in organizing and maintaining Figma libraries, asset management, and other design system tools

Role Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Design, UX/UI, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field

  • Strong understanding of design principles, including typography, color theory, layout, and accessibility

  • Familiarity with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD

  • Basic understanding of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS) is a plus

  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team environment

  • A portfolio or relevant work samples that showcase your design skills and interest in design systems (optional but encouraged)

  • A collaborative spirit, with a genuine interest in learning and career development

  • Be an advocate for the user
