Who we are
At CarGurus (NASDAQ: CARG), our mission is to give people the power to reach their destination. We started as a small team of developers determined to bring trust and transparency to car shopping. Since then, our history of innovation and go-to-market acceleration has driven industry-leading growth. In fact, we're the largest and fastest-growing automotive marketplace, and we've been profitable for over 15 years.
What we do
The market is evolving, and we are too, moving the entire automotive journey online and guiding our customers through every step. That includes everything from the sale of an old car to the financing, purchase, and delivery of a new one. Today, tens of millions of consumers visit CarGurus.com each month, and ~30,000 dealerships use our products. But they're not the only ones who love CarGurus-our employees do, too. We have a people-first culture that fosters kindness, collaboration, and innovation, and empowers our Gurus with tools to fuel their career growth. Disrupting a trillion-dollar industry requires fresh and diverse perspectives. Come join us for the ride!
Role Overview
Join our first Dublin product team! CarGurus is seeking a Product Data Analyst to serve as the local analytics lead for our newly established Dublin tech office. As part of one of our fastest-growing business areas, this role offers a unique opportunity to shape our international data strategy and drive growth across our global marketplaces.
In this role, you will navigate complex data environments, build scalable data assets, drive site experimentation, and tackle unstructured analytics challenges in a fast-paced, two-sided marketplace. Partnering closely with Product, Engineering, and Data teams, you will serve as a trusted authority bridging technical insights with business strategy.
We are looking for an inquisitive, self-directed analyst who demonstrates proactive problem-solving, end-to-end ownership, and clear stakeholder communication. If you are excited to dive deep into complex data to surface actionable, high-impact insights, we'd love to hear from you!
What You'll Do
  • Exploratory & Empirical Analysis: Conduct deep-dive analyses using SQL and Python across disparate data sources (e.g., website usage, subscriptions, inventory) to quantify product performance, user behavior, and market trends.
  • Business & Metric Definition: Condense abstract or loosely defined concepts into concrete calculations and automated dashboards (via Looker, etc.) to guide daily executive decision-making.
  • A/B Testing & Experimentation: Serve as the authority on A/B experimentation - guiding product managers and engineers on tracking requirements, sample sizes, metric selection, and statistical significance. Help improve testing tools, algorithms, and automated processes.
  • Data Engineering & Asset Building: Partner with Data Engineering to optimize core architecture and clickstream logging. Conceive and build automated data transformations (via dbt, LookML) to streamline quick, scalable modeling bottlenecks.
  • Strategic Partnership & Product Innovation: Participate in planning sessions to advocate for data-driven product features aligned with business strategy. Tactfully push back against flawed proposals when supported by data.
  • Executive Communication: Translate complex quantitative findings into clear key takeaways for senior leadership, confidently answering probing, on-the-spot questions.

What You'll Bring
  • Experience: Bachelor's or Master's degree with 2+ years of experience in analytics or an analytics-adjacent field, focusing on complex data modeling, quantitative analysis, and applied statistics.
  • Technical Skills: Expert fluency in SQL. Experience with statistical programming languages (Python, R, Stata, SAS) is highly desirable.
  • Statistical Rigor: Solid understanding of core concepts (regression, significance testing, omitted variable bias, independence/dependence).
  • Modern Tooling & GenAI: Hands-on experience leveraging GenAI to optimize workflows and utilizing agentic coding platforms such as Claude Code (preferred) or Cursor.
  • Communication & Influence: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to present high-impact or sensitive findings to executive stakeholders.
  • Mindset & Ownership: Proactive, self-directed mindset willing to step outside the immediate scope, challenge assumptions, and advocate for novel ideas. Strong project planning skills to build roadmaps, estimate resources, and flag cross-functional dependencies.
  • Preferred Tools: Snowflake, Snowplow, dbt, Looker, Jira, Salesforce.
