Job Summary
The Product Control Manager will support senior leadership in delivering robust financial control and high quality management information across Corporate and Investment Banking and Business Banking. The role is responsible for analyzing performance, identifying trends and control weaknesses, and producing insightful MI to support Coverage, Credit, Operations and senior management decision making. Key responsibilities include oversight of daily corporate P&L for structured debt, Structured Trade and Commodity Finance (STCF), accurate financial reporting and balance sheet control, and ensuring end to end integrity of product P&L flows. The incumbent will implement and maintain strong governance and control frameworks, proactively manage product risks, and drive change in response to regulatory, market and business developments to strengthen the overall control environment.Job Description
- Actively discuss business issues with PCG (Product Control Governance) Head, Product Heads and business Heads in order to promote and/or ensure compliance to policy and procedures around operations as products.
- Keep abreast of local market developments which could have direct bearing on changes to procedures/reporting requirements
- Pro-actively refine existing procedures in order to improve the control operations around the products and control environment.
- Perform and Review reconciliations, discuss with corporate head in ARO and recommend appropriate action to resolve outstanding items. Conduct a general overview of all daily MI generated in PCG in order to ensure consistency in reporting
- Ensure that all new products are appropriately authorized and that all relevant support areas are informed of the new product
- Be familiar with procedures for the whole product cycle from deal initiation to settlement. Document trade life cycle and controls within the cycle across the corporate product set. Taking ownership and drive Product Control initiatives initiated at Regional Office
- Monthly p&l and balance sheet substantiation is performed and signed off by the product heads
- Daily FOBO and BOBO reconciliations and end of day processes, review of all FOBO (GL to product systems) reconciliations and long outstanding breaks
- Assist in the introduction of new products on an ongoing basis and sign off on corporate product NPA’s
- Motivate and drive sharing of risk management best practice among overall stakeholders for improved risk culture.
- Build skills base and competencies through facilitation of appropriate skills training and education mechanisms to raise proficiency of PCG team and wider stakeholders relying on PC
- Identify appropriate training requirements for stakeholders and self, managing personal development
- Engineer Product Control processes to capitalize on improved systems capability and functionality
