Job Description

Product Configuration Engineer.

Bangalore, Pune

Product Configuration Engineer develops software-based Industrial Automation System configuration and product selection tools. You will establish required tools, product data, and business processes that support electronic configuration and marketing applications. The engineer will organise data from existing databases and collaborate with Product Managers, partners, and third-party partners to provide high-quality configurator solutions.

We ask that you have technical expertise in configurator development, database programming, software testing, and industrial automation products. The ideal candidate will Experience being on call for bugs or other issues that may arise during a sprint while collaborating with remote global teams.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, test, and support Industrial Automation System configuration and selection tools.
  • Design and implement product configurators based on product marketing specifications and our requirements.
  • Manage product and configuration data from multiple databases for integration into electronic marketing and sales tools.
  • Work with Product Marketing teams to clarify configurator requirements and implement enhancements resulting from product reviews.
  • Develop server-based web applications supporting product configuration and selection processes.
  • Create, test, and deploy configurator solutions in enterprise configurator environments.
  • Perform database programming activities, including data modelling, maintenance, optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Participate in software release, validation, testing, and deployment activities.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers and engineering teams, on a daily basis to provide quality solutions.
  • Ensure configurator accuracy, performance, documentation, and compliance with established development standards.
  • Support continuous improvement projects and contribute to automation product knowledge development.

The Essentials - You Will Have

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electronics, Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • 1 or more years of experience.
  • Experience working on live software development projects and production support activities.
  • Experience with database programming and data management concepts.
  • Knowledge of software application development, testing methodologies, and technical documentation.
  • Experience working in product configurator development environments.
  • Independently and work with globally distributed teams.
  • Flexibility to support U.S. time zones during software release and testing activities.

The Preferred - You Might Also Have

  • Knowledge of Industrial Automation products, Rockwell Automation products or equivalent competitor offerings.
  • Hands-on experience with declarative product model programming in configurator platforms CPQ such as:
  • SAP Variant Configuration (SAP VC)
  • Selectica
  • (Oracle CPQ)
  • Configit
  • Tacton
  • Experience creating product configurators like online product configuration solutions.
  • Knowledge of SQL, and Microsoft excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets).
  • Experience with server-based web application development and maintenance.
  • Interpret product configuration specifications and translate them into configurator solutions.
  • Experience working with Product Marketing teams to define requirements and implement configuration changes.
  • Exposure to product lifecycle management, product data management, and configuration testing processes.
  • Technical discussions with our users, product managers, and external partners.
  • Desire to learn Industrial Automation products and latest technologies.
