An opportunity has arisen for an Engineering Project Lead to join the Defence Mature Engines team in Bristol. The role will be responsible for delivery of Product Change packages within the Transport, Combat, Trainer, Naval & Legacy programmes – managing complex technical packages of work through the Rolls-Royce change process, from inception to entry into service.
The successful candidate will be expected to apply Systems Engineering and Project Management in Engineering (PMiE) principles to ensure effective delivery of work packages linked to modifications.

What you will be doing
Key Accountabilities/ Responsibilities:
- Leadership - Lead a cross-functional team of non-direct reports to deliver high-quality, high-profile Product Change projects.
- Project Management Plan - Develop and manage the project management plan including schedule, technical strategy, cost and validation strategy to integrate complementary business processes.
- Budget Management – Engage with delegate of Programme Directorate to manage project spend against agreed budget and support governance reviews with business finance team.
- Schedule Management – Ensure project tasks are effectively planned and executed based on engagement with team stakeholders and aligned to project milestones for delivery.
- Stakeholder & Resource Management - Integration of internal and external stakeholders, including Manufacturing Supply chain and Customer Representatives, providing Governance and communication to key stakeholders to influence and recommend strategic decisions.
- Risk Management - Support scoping and integration of design solutions with all functions to develop Technical & Programme Risk mitigation strategies linked to robust estimations in planning and cost.

Required:
- Educated to degree level in a STEM subject and/ or have experience in a relevant engineering & project management environment. Other qualifications, in combination with relevant experience, may also be considered.
- Candidates should have strong technical and problem-solving skills, be capable of systems level thinking, demonstrate personal drive, presentation skills and will need to contribute effectively in a team environment.
- Strong communicator, able to set expectations and manage stakeholders at all levels & be able to manage conflicts/priorities.
Desired:
- Experience of leading development projects from requirements capture to implementation with proven ability to deliver against commitments.
- Understanding of systems engineering, project management and change management principles is desirable.
- Professionally gained qualifications within related disciplines – for example: CM2, APM PMQ, PMP, PRINCE2.
