About the Company

General Matter is enriching uranium in America.

Our goal is to design, build, and operate the world’s lowest-cost enrichment services in the United States.

Our mission is to restore America’s ability to produce nuclear fuel—fuel that will power AI, advanced manufacturing, critical industries, and the next generation of nuclear reactors.

Ultimately, our work will help power national ambitions and enable a high-energy society.

We were incubated by Founders Fund, like Anduril and Palantir before us, and are backed by top-tier investors. Our lean, world-class team of engineers and operators is applying a first-principles approach to solving the problem of nuclear fuel production.

We are a mission-driven company with a culture of urgency, accountability, and transparency.

Help us build a high-energy society by making the cleanest, safest form of baseload energy the most affordable.

About This Role

As Product Certification Lead at General Matter, you will build and own our UF6 product certification capability from the ground up. You'll define the technical strategy for blending enriched uranium to meet customer specifications, establish the processes and protocols to certify our product to ASTM and regulatory standards, and ensure General Matter delivers enriched UF6 that meets the exacting requirements of our utility and advanced reactor customers. This is a rare opportunity to shape a critical function at a next-generation enrichment facility during rapid commercial scale-up—your decisions will directly enable our ability to sell product and scale operations. You'll work at the intersection of technical depth, customer requirements, regulatory compliance, and operational execution, collaborating closely with Chemistry, Operations, Engineering, and Business Development teams. If you're a seasoned nuclear fuel-cycle professional who is ready to innovate within a regulated framework and build something new rather than maintain legacy systems, we encourage you to apply to join our mission of national importance.

Responsibilities

  • Own the development and execution of General Matter's UF6 product certification strategy and capability
  • Define the technical approach for blending enriched uranium to meet customer-specified assay requirements and product specifications
  • Establish sampling, testing, and analytical protocols to certify product quality, isotopic composition, and compliance with ASTM standards (e.g., ASTM C787 and related specifications)
  • Develop and maintain product documentation, traceability, and material accountability systems to support regulatory compliance and customer requirements
  • Interface directly with customers to understand technical product requirements, resolve inquiries, and ensure satisfaction
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Chemistry, Operations, Engineering, and Business teams to align product certification with production schedules and commercial objectives
  • Ensure compliance with NRC, DOE, and other applicable regulatory requirements for enriched uranium product handling and certification
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to optimize blending processes, reduce variability, and enhance product quality
  • Build and mentor technical capability within the organization as General Matter scales

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in the nuclear fuel cycle, with direct exposure to UF6 handling, enrichment operations, fuel fabrication, or nuclear material quality assurance
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Chemistry, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience; Master's degree preferred
  • Deep understanding of UF6 properties, handling, and product specifications
  • Working knowledge of ASTM standards for UF6 (e.g., ASTM C787) and familiarity with NRC or DOE regulatory requirements for nuclear materials
  • Demonstrated experience in product quality, material certification, process development, or technical leadership roles
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to develop innovative solutions within a regulated framework
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience interfacing with customers, regulators, or cross-functional technical teams
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearance and access authorization for work with nuclear materials
  • Ability to work on-site in Paducah, KY or Los Angeles, CA

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Direct experience with UF6 blending, product certification, or enrichment facility operations
  • Background in process development or engineering—building novel systems or capabilities, not just operating existing ones
  • Prior work in a customer-facing role defining or validating technical product requirements
  • Experience in fast-paced, resource-constrained, or startup environments where autonomy, bias toward action, and entrepreneurial thinking are required
  • Familiarity with material control and accountability (MC&A) systems and practices
  • Active or prior security clearance (Q, L, or equivalent)
  • Experience working with advanced reactor developers or non-traditional nuclear customers

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.
