Job Description

As the inventor of flash memory, KIOXIA continues to lead the industry in innovation and cutting-edge storage solutions. We seek a passionate individual eager to lead technical innovation and develop new ideas by applying their expertise in NAND-based storage development and storage system architecture. This role is part of theTechnology and Storage Pathfinding Group, which is responsible for sensing and assessing future technologies to shape the long-term direction of our storage solutions. You will play a key role in identifying emerging trends, evaluating disruptive innovations, and contributing to the future of NAND-based storage. Your deep industry knowledge will be instrumental in driving technology advancements, fostering innovation, and strengthening both our existing and new business opportunities. By joining KIOXIA’s Technology and Storage Pathfinding Group, you will be at the forefront of identifying and shaping the next generation of NAND-based storage solutions, driving impactful innovations that redefine the future of storage technology.

Your skills and background will help drive the following activities:

  • Technology Feasibility – Conceptualize new technologies and develop a compelling value proposition for innovative concepts. Collaborate closely with Architects and Engineering teams across global time zones to refine architectural details and create proof-of-concept development plans. Manage projects and drive cross-functional teams to successfully complete feasibility studies. Engage with customers to gain traction for new technologies, articulate their value, and encourage investment in proof-of-concept development efforts.
  • Technology Innovation – Leverage your deep expertise in data storage systems to generate new concepts, features, and solutions. Define system-level use cases and clearly articulate how these innovations improve storage performance, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Reference Architecture – Analyze and develop reference architectures for the adoption of new technologies while staying ahead of technology trends in Enterprise, Cloud, and Client SSD markets. Provide clear, data-driven assessments of potential technologies, strategic challenges, and industry landscapes to gain consensus and drive innovation.
  • Technology Strategy and Invention – Identify opportunities for breakthrough advancements in NAND-based storage. Contribute to the development of novel architectures, interfaces, and protocols that enhance performance, scalability, and efficiency. Support the creation of intellectual property (IP) by driving new patents and innovative solutions that push the boundaries of storage technology.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in technology development, system architecture, or innovation within data storage or related industries
  • In-depth architectural and system understanding of SSDs and their usage in storage and server systems within Enterprise and Data Center environments
  • Strong knowledge of storage system architectures and technologies across Compute, Networking, and Storage
  • Proven track record in driving technology innovations, developing new concepts, and contributing to intellectual property creation (patents, research, or industry contributions)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while collaborating with cross-functional global teams across multiple time zones
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including excellent presentation and public speaking capabilities
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required; an MBA is a plus

The expected salary for this position is $153,144.00 - $255,231.00.
