Job Description  
 
Do you like large-scale software analytics problems? Are you thriving in being one step ahead and solving problems for development teams before they arise?  
 
We are looking for a dynamic Business Analyst to support the maintenance and migration effort to our new central data platform. The platform will support the data that drives the rest of our business, supports our products, and enables our customers to truly understand their business and market.  

The Business Analysts will be responsible for the day-to-day oversight and delivery for a Platform team, delivering changes prioritised by the Product Owner, and ensuring the overall scope and technical requirements for assigned sprints are understood and implemented. 

Essential to the role is an ability to understand business processes, gather requirements and translate them into a Product-based delivery requirements. 

Working closely with a variety of stakeholders across Product, Technology, Data, and the wider business the role requires excellent communication skills and a deep understanding of product and agile delivery methodology.

You will be a self-starter, energised by a challenge, passionate about realising and delivering an enterprise data platform to the rest of the business. 
 

  • Excellent people and communication skills – with an ability to relate to both non-technical business users and technical teams 

  • A desire to develop your career in product management, experience in prioritising work and working within often conflicting constraints 

  • An extensive understanding of data and data management principles 

  • Knowledge of data architecture and platforms would be an advantage. Ideally some experience of data management tools and large-scale database supporting analytics including relational and graph databases, and handling archive and real-time data in large volumes 

  • Knowledge of SaaS platforms for supporting the development and delivery of common capabilities to support a suite of products 

  • An understanding of Agile, LEAN and iterative software development 

  • An interest in making a difference to the way we power the planet 

 

 

 

 
Knowledge & experience 

  • Existing Business Analysts looking to expand their role within a large analytics environment 

  • Understand the product development and engineering process from requirement definition through to validation 

  • Experience working with industry standard tools such as Jira and Confluence and with research tools, web analytics and data analysis applications 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail 

  • Ability to think strategically whilst achieving results in immediate area of responsibility 

  • Basic knowledge on the sector the product serves, understanding of the major players, market conditions, and industry standards 

Impact on the team 
 

  • Be the key contact for scrum team, working with the Product Owner to determine what changes/initiatives need to be developed 

  • Work closely with Product Owners and cross functional delivery teams to focus on value driven delivery that supports innovation, optimisation, and maintenance of the Platform 

  • Provide guidance and direction by defining user requirements with clear acceptance criteria across multiple features 

  • Work alongside a Scrum Master to identify and remove blockers and obstacles on behalf of your team 

  • Participate in agile development activities and agile ceremonies: scrums, planning and estimating sessions, backlog refinement, retros, workshops, and sprint reviews  

  • Maintain effective communication between customers, business, and technical stakeholders to ensure risks and issues are managed effectively 

  • Conduct interviews, workshops, review documentation and evaluate business process to gather requirements and translate them into acceptance criteria for the scrum team to work to. 

  • Champion the Agile way of working. Ensuring all standards and processes are followed and changes and improvements to increase the team’s productivity are implemented. 

  • Work with tech lead to compile requirements that work within a set of defined constraints 

  • Assist in documentation and testing of given solutions to ensure fit for customers 

  • Ability to qualify and validate completed functionality to ensure fit for customers 

  • Ensure team has a broader understanding of their impact on the wider data platform 

  • Participate in daily scrums with engineering teams
