KBMT-KJAC, the Tegna dual ABC-NBC affiliate in Beaumont, Texas, is seeking a Producer to help take our streaming content and newscasts to a new level. We’re looking for someone who’s passionate about news, loves breaking news, and has a creative vision for crafting live programs. This person will work closely with the news team to create innovative, up-to-the-minute content that resonates with our viewers. This producer can develop and adapt content for production across all different channels, including linear, non-linear, web, podcast, social media, and digital products. The ideal candidate loves to collaborate, is familiar with the latest editing tools and techniques, and is ready to take on new challenges to help us continue to grow. You’ll work closely with our streaming products and help us continue to find new ways to reach our audience no matter what platform they are on.
Responsibilities:
• Passion for capturing video & audio elements to edit and produce compelling and engaging news, sports, features and documentary-style stories in a daily deadline environment.
• Use creative production techniques such as graphics and new forms of media (viewer pictures, webcam interviews, etc.) to produce and enhance stories.
• Gather editorial elements needed for stories, including social media newsgathering, research, and securing interviews.
• Contribute to the day’s editorial direction by pitching story ideas, exclusive reports, and interview opportunities.
• Participate in breaking news coverage and special projects.
• Demonstrate proficiency in using social media platforms for newsgathering, research, and content creation.
• Maintain a well-established network of contacts, including community organizations, business leaders, federal and local officials, and other media outlets.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, Communications, or equivalent professional experience.
- Knowledge of EDIUS, or any Non-Linear base editing system
- Experience producing digital video content in a newsroom environment.
- Proficiency in social media platforms and trends.
- Work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, including flexible hours.
- Demonstrated news judgment, writing skills, photography experience, and non-linear editing skills.
- Understanding of the tenants of professional journalism
- Organizational skills and the ability to work under constant time pressure deadlines

- Current driver’s license and ability to operate news gathering vehicle to and from various locations
