Key Responsibilities May Include:
- Develop and execute category strategies aligned with regional and global procurement priorities, leveraging market analysis to optimize supplier selection and performance.
- Lead end-to-end sourcing activities, including negotiating contracts, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities within assigned categories to meet annual savings targets and drive value for the business.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to align procurement activities with business needs and ensure early involvement in the sourcing process.
- Monitor supplier performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) and address gaps to improve quality, delivery, and cost efficiency.
- Ensure procurement activities adhere to governance, ethical sourcing practices, and sustainability objectives while supporting audit and compliance requirements.
- Provide regular reporting and analytics on procurement performance, including spend analysis, cost savings, and supplier performance metrics.
- Collaborate with global category managers and cross-functional teams to leverage scale, align strategies, and drive procurement initiatives effectively.
Position Purpose
The role is responsible for the effective delivery of Procurement activity as defined by the major accountabilities.
Procurement is committed to deliver a significant contribution towards Brambles strategic priorities, enabling the markets to win through Procurement using breakthrough category strategies, sourcing execution and effective management of the supply base, to support operating margin improvement and competitive advantage.
Brambles' procurement strategy seeks to ensure the company's access to the necessary products and materials at competitive prices. This role supports this strategy through the development and execution of sourcing strategies for all Goods and Services category spend, under the categories of plant & machinery, subcos, transport, MHE and real estate.
This role will support sourcing programs in the above categories across the AMET region with stakeholders and will apply best practice category management techniques to support the maximisation of value, utilising a total cost approach and creating more sustainable ways of procurement (continuous improvement)
The role will also be responsible for supporting the senior procurement manager in recommending and implementing activities associated with risk management and sustainability as defined by regional and global strategies. Tactical to strategic procurement mindset and defining how risk can be mitigated.
What's Expected of You?
- Delivery of annual projects and targets in line with agreed strategies
- Monitoring and reporting on savings vs CAPEX plans.
- Effective delivery of project plans for all savings initiatives
- Where agreed, manage chosen key strategic categories as named above.
- Contribute to business priorities using recognised procurement category management methodologies and models.
- Build effective relationships with all relevant Business Stakeholders to ensure Procurement is leveraged early in the process for required goods & services.
- Ensure Contract Management is undertaken in line with the global procurement policy, mitigating commercial risk in the AMET Region.
- Ensure compliance with the Global Procurement Policy, leveraging the Global team’s knowledge and resource.
- Ensure Supplier Performance & Relationship Management processes are undertaken as required for categories (as named above) to improve the performance of key suppliers and to ensure business plans are created with strategic suppliers.
- Support continued implementation of Preferred Supplier Program across AMET
- Support the adoption of global procurement systems and processes
Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field (NQF7)
- CIPS Desirable Qualification
- Procurement management in a manufacturing or FMCG environment
- Stakeholder satisfaction
- Supplier management and improvement programs
- Implementation and change management of national contracts and programs
- Management and use of Procurement systems
Skills and Knowledge
- Professional procurement expertise based on depth of experience and commercial acumen
- Commercial negotiation
