About us

Commodity Management sits at the heart of Dyson’s Global Supply Chain organisation, responsible for shaping and securing the component technologies that power our future products. Working across all commodities, the Direct Procurement team ensures our supply base is technically capable, commercially competitive, resilient, and aligned with Dyson’s long‑term technology roadmap.

Partnering closely with Discovery Procurement, Research, NPI, NPD, Operations and suppliers, we lead the commercial and strategic direction of our electronics supply chain. We combine deep commodity expertise with strategic foresight, identifying technology trends, supply market shifts, and opportunities to drive competitive advantage through best‑in‑class supplier partnerships.

About the role

As a Global Commodity Manager (Electronics), you will own the commercial, strategic, and supply readiness performance of a key electronic commodity used across Dyson’s global product portfolio. You will act as the primary commercial interface with suppliers, ensuring Dyson’s electronic components are competitively sourced -dual‑sourced where feasible - and mitigated against supply chain risk.

Collaborating closely with Discovery Procurement and RDD, you will influence component selection, manage supplier engagement from early concept through mass production, and ensure the supply chain is capable of supporting product launches at pace. The role requires balancing strategic thinking with tactical execution—shaping long‑term commodity strategies while navigating real‑time supply challenges.

You will lead negotiations, orchestrate complex supplier transitions, develop new supply routes, and steer suppliers towards the quality, cost, and performance expectations needed to support Dyson’s future technology ambitions.

Role responsibilities

  • Develop and execute long‑term commodity strategies for key electronic components, aligned with category requirements, technology roadmaps, and future product pipelines.

  • Maintain an AVL based on technical fit, commercial competitiveness, risk exposure, and long‑term alignment with Dyson’s strategic objectives.

  • Drive dual‑source and alternative component strategies to ensure resilience, cost optimisation, and flexibility.

  • Partner with RDD to guide component selection and ensure suppliers meet cost, quality, and technical specifications.

  • Coordinate and drive component qualification, including alternative components for risk mitigation or cost‑down initiatives.

  • Lead commercial negotiations and contractual discussions across your supply base to secure best‑in‑class cost, performance, and commercial terms.

  • Conduct cost benchmarking and scrutiny where necessary, responsible for PPV management, and oversee risk‑buy decisions for critical components.

  • Manage commercial exposure at Contract Manufacturers, including cancellation liabilities, rescheduling, and demand changes.

  • Conduct supplier and component risk assessments, working closely with Category Procurement Managers (CPMs) and Commodity Managers to define and execute mitigation plans.

  • Collaborate with wider supply chain teams to manage demand changes, expedite critical materials, and navigate allocation constraints.

  • Ensure supplier capacity and long‑term business continuity planning is robust and aligned with growth expectations.

  • Act as a global point of coordination for electronics procurement topics, aligning with engineering, quality, operations, logistics, finance and upstream teams.

  • Drive transparency of supplier performance, risks, and opportunities across global stakeholders.

  • Cultivate high‑value relationships with strategic suppliers, enabling innovation, cost reduction, and competitive differentiation.

About you
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics, supply chain, or a related discipline.

  • Strong experience in global commodity management, ideally within Electronics / Semiconductors / Sensors / Displays environments.

  • Record of delivering strategic and tactical procurement achievements—sourcing, negotiations, cost management, and supplier development.

  • Demonstrated ability in supplier performance management, risk mitigation, and leading complex commercial engagements.

  • Strong understanding of PCBA‑level components and upstream electronics supply chains.

  • Excellent negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills across global teams.

  • Strong analytical capability, with proficiency in Excel, Power BI and other data tools.

  • A self‑starter who can work independently, influence effectively, and navigate fast‑paced, technically complex environments.

  • Project management experience is advantageous.
