About the Role:
Brooks Automation is seeking an experienced and dynamic Procurement Manager to join our team at our new Greenfield Semiconductor manufacturing facility in Johor, Malaysia. In this role, you will lead a team of Buyers and be responsible for overseeing all direct/indirect procurement activities, ensuring the timely acquisition of materials, equipment, and services essential for the facility's operations. This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of procurement best practices, supplier relationship management, and a strong background in the semiconductor industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee all procurement activities related to the setup of the Greenfield manufacturing facility, ensuring that all materials, equipment, and services are procured within budget and timeline constraints.

Collaborate closely with the project management and manufacturing teams to align procurement plans with the facility’s development and operational needs.

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Buyers; set clear objectives, provide guidance, and monitor the progress of team members in meeting procurement goals.

Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with the company's operational goals and objectives, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality, to ensure we strive to be the best-in-class manufacturing site/model.

Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with key suppliers and vendors to ensure a reliable supply chain.

Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to achieve favorable agreements while maintaining quality standards and delivery timelines.

Identify potential risks in the supply chain and develop strategies to mitigate them, ensuring business continuity.

Drive cost reduction initiatives without compromising on quality or delivery schedules.

Implement strategies to optimize inventory levels and reduce procurement lead times.
-
Prepare and present regular reports on procurement activities, cost savings, supplier performance, and other key metrics to senior management.

Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to ensure that all procured materials and equipment meet the specified requirements and standards.

Any other duties assigned.
Qualifications & Competencies:

Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field with minimum 10 years of experience in Procurement.

At least 3-5 years in a Managerial role, preferably within the Semiconductor or High-Tech manufacturing industry or MNCs.

Proven experience in leading procurement for Greenfield projects or facility setups.

Certifications such as Lean Six Sigma / CIPS / CPM or similar would be highly regarded.

Proficiency in procurement software, ERP systems ORACLE Cloud/SAP S4 Hana, and data analytics/BI Tools.

Expert knowledge of procurement processes, supplier management, and contract negotiation.

Fluent in English; proficiency in Malay or other regional languages is an added advantage.

Strong understanding of the Semiconductor industry's supply chain dynamics is preferred.
